Commodities Market Impact Weather
Mostly Dry in Midwest Monday
OMAHA (DTN) -- Mostly dry to only light precipitation in the Midwest and episodes of above-normal temperatures and limited rainfall throughout the soybean belt of Brazil are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.
MOSTLY DRY IN MIDWEST
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for mostly dry or only a little very light precipitation in the western Midwest early today. Temperatures will be average to above normal east and south and near to below normal northwest. In the eastern Midwest, there is a chance for a little light precipitation, favoring north areas, today or tonight. Temperatures average well above normal today.
FAVORABLE CONDITIONS IN SOUTHERN PLAINS
Conditions will be generally favorable for overwintering wheat in the Southern Plains with adequate soil moisture. There is no damaging cold weather expected in this area.

ABOVE-NORMAL TEMPS, LIMITED RAINFALL IN BRAZIL SOY BELT
Episodes of above-normal temperatures and limited rainfall throughout the soybean belt of Brazil will continue to stress pod-filling soybeans with crop losses ongoing. The safrina corn crop, which is currently being planted behind the soybean harvest, will be affected if a more normal rainfall pattern does not return in the next few weeks.
FAVORABLE WEATHER FOR ARGENTINA CROPS
Favorable weather for developing corn and soybeans is expected to continue in the major growing areas of central Argentina.
FAVORABLE BLACK SEA CONDITIONS
In the Black Sea region, Southeast Europe, Ukraine and south Russia will see mostly above-normal temperatures and much less precipitation during the next seven to 10 days. Conditions will be mostly favorable for overwintering crops. However, protective snow cover will be diminishing.
MORE CENTRAL CHINA SHOWERS
No significant cold weather is forecast for China this week. Precipitation may again occur through the southern and some of the central areas of North China Plain. This is somewhat unusual for the area, as it is typically drier during the winter.
