Scattered Southern Brazil Rain

OMAHA (DTN) -- Limited and scattered rain in southern Brazil, and a favorable drier trend in Argentina, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Wednesday.

UNSETTLED EASTERN MIDWEST PATTERN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a round of light rain showers to form over the eastern Midwest during the next two days. Dry conditions ahead of that event will offer some harvest potential. The pattern has a new round of precipitation during the six- to 10-day period. Post-harvest fieldwork opportunities will be limited.

MILD SOUTHERN PLAINS PATTERN

Winter wheat conditions remain favorable in the Southern Plains, with above to much above normal temperatures. This pattern allows for additional pre- winter growth of the crop under adequate soil moisture.

FAVORABLE NORTHERN BRAZIL CONDITIONS

In northern Brazil, crop conditions remain favorable. Soybean harvest is underway in some early planted areas. Dry conditions in the northeast will bear watching.

SOUTH-CENTRAL BRAZIL DROUGHT

In southern Brazil, hot and dry conditions centering on Parana, Mato Grosso do Sul and Sao Paulo during this month have increased the risk to pod-filling soybeans. Widely scattered rainfall occurred Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, but more widespread rain is needed. The outlook suggests that this rain chance will come during the weekend and Monday. If verified, this might stabilize conditions somewhat. In far southern Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul has seen more rain with better crop conditions.

DRIER ARGENTINA TREND

In Argentina, a drier pattern through the next week is indicated. This will be favorable for areas that have had heavy rain recently.

SOUTH AFRICA SHOWERS

South Africa crop areas are still in line for scattered showers and thunderstorms through the remainder of the week.
