Commodities Market Impact Weather
Drier for Harvest
OMAHA (DTN) -- Drier conditions for Midwest harvest and continued beneficial rain over Brazil soybean areas are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.
DRIER MIDWEST FORECAST
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for drier conditions to develop across the region during the next 10 days. This trend will be favorable for harvest. Many Midwest areas have seen the slowest beginning to harvest since 2009.
SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN
In the Southern Plains, additional rain will move through southern areas this week, hindering row-crop harvest and winter wheat planting. The region has notably improved soil moisture since midsummer.
IMPROVING NORTHERN PLAINS PATTERN
In the Northern Plains, harvest remains delayed by rain and snow. The pattern turns drier this week, offering some better conditions for progress.
WET IN DELTA
The Delta will have disruptions in harvest and fieldwork early this week due to moderate to locally heavy rain.

SOUTHEAST HURRICANE RECOVERY
In the southeastern U.S., dry conditions will allow for progress in recovery following severe damage from Hurricane Michael.
WEST TEXAS RAIN AND COLD
In west Texas, weekend rainfall will be followed by cold and unsettled weather early this week. Temperatures may moderate somewhat later in the week, but with additional chances for light-to-moderate rainfall. Freezing temperatures likely affected the area Monday.
MORE-FAVORABLE PRAIRIES PATTERN
In the Canadian Prairies, the pattern turns drier this week, offering some improvement for harvest.
CONTINUED BRAZIL RAIN
Central Brazil has generally favorable conditions for early developing soybeans. Showers continue in the forecast this week.
EUROPE RAIN
Heavy rain hit western Europe over the past weekend, with some flooding. Field work delays developed; however, the rain is favorable for soil moisture following a dry summer.
WARM AND DRY IN RUSSIA
In the Black Sea region, Russia and Ukraine will be dry this week with very warm temperatures, averaging some 10 degrees Fahrenheit above normal. This is unfavorable for wheat moisture.
LIGHT EASTERN AUSTRALIA SHOWERS
Eastern Australia has light to locally moderate rain forecast this week. The rain will offer minimal improvement to wheat, however, following harsh drought conditions over the past three months.
SOUTH AFRICA RAIN
Eastern and southern crop areas of South Africa received beneficial rain during the past weekend.
