Wet in Western Midwest
OMAHA (DTN) -- Rain to again delay western Midwest harvest, and more showers for Brazil soybean areas, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Wednesday.
MORE WESTERN MIDWEST RAIN
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for wet and cool conditions in the western Midwest to be unfavorable to maturing and harvesting corn and soybean in the western Midwest. Heavy rains may lead to flooding of fields through the next week. Milder weather and less rainfall in the eastern Midwest are more favorable for harvest.
RAINY IN SOUTHERN PLAINS
Southern Plains areas have additional moderate to heavy rain in the forecast. The rain will delay additional winter wheat seeding, but offers favorable soil moisture for early crop development.
SHOWERS AND COLD IN NORTHERN PLAINS

Across the Northern Plains, a cold pattern with mixed precipitation is unfavorable for harvest. A hard freeze over the weekend should not be of major concern, and will offer improvement in field conditions for harvest.
DRY AND WARM IN DELTA
The Delta continues to see dry and very warm to hot conditions, generally favoring harvest and fieldwork activity.
PRAIRIES STAY COLD
In the Canadian Prairies, a cold and dry pattern in north and west areas will favor harvest. South and east areas have periodic light to moderate precipitation, rain and snow, to disrupt progress. Some areas of Alberta received more than 40 centimeters of snow on Tuesday.
MORE BRAZIL SHOWERS
Central Brazil has continued episodes of rain forecast, with additional favorable conditions for planting and early development of soybeans.
AUSTRALIA SHOWERS
Periods of light to locally moderate showers continue in the forecast for Australia's major wheat areas. The moisture will offer limited benefit to the drought-affected crop. New South Wales was record-dry in the July-through-September period.
