DTN Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Rain and harvest interruptions in the Midwest forecast and additional showers for central Brazil soybean planting are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Thursday.

RAIN AHEAD FOR MIDWEST

The DTN Ag Weather forecast calls for locally heavy, flooding rain in the northern Midwest, which will extensively delay harvest. The remainder of the Midwest will have one more day of dry conditions for harvest Thursday, followed by showers and thunderstorms during the weekend, leading to some delays in harvest progress.

RAIN FOR SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, the forecast remains promising for rain to develop during the end of the week. Rainfall will improve soil moisture for the next winter wheat crop.

NORTHERN PLAINS SHOWERS

The Northern Plains will have showers developing over the balance of this week, leading to some disruption in harvest.

DELTA RAIN PROSPECTS

Delta crop areas will have hot and dry harvest conditions through midday Friday. Moderate to heavy rain is forecast to follow, causing harvest disruption during the weekend.

HARVEST DELAY IN PRAIRIES

Central and southern areas of the Canadian Prairies continue with a forecast for moderate precipitation through the weekend. Precipitation will likely slow harvest operations and fieldwork.

ADDITIONAL BRAZIL SHOWERS

In central Brazil, showers continue in the forecast. Rainfall is beneficial for planting soybeans. Southern Brazil is ahead of average on soybean planting progress due to favorable moisture. Additional progress in southern Brazil may be slow due to moderate to heavy rain during the rest of the week.

MIXED BLACK SEA MOISTURE

In the Black Sea region, dryness is a continuing concern in winter grain areas of the Central Region of Russia and the Black Soils Region of Russia as well as the Volga Valley. The Southern District of Russia, along with Ukraine, have improved soil moisture due to rain during the past ten days. Dry conditions are forecast through the weekend.

STILL-DRY AUSTRALIA FORECAST

Major wheat areas of Australia continue with a dry forecast through next week. Drought impact leads to declining crop prospects for the second consecutive year. In addition, Western Australia wheat sustained damage due to a hard freeze during the past weekend.

LATE-SEASON INDIA MONSOON RAIN

Late-season India monsoon rain occurred Wednesday in southern India, including northern Maharashtra. Models continue to show rain chances for northern Maharashtra, west Madhya Pradesh, and east Gujarat areas at the end of this week. There is also a chance that rain would make its way into west Gujarat.
