Midwest Rain Delays
OMAHA (DTN) -- Heavy rain delaying Midwest harvest and improved soil moisture for Southern Plains wheat are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.
HEAVY MIDWEST RAIN
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for heavy Midwest rain to focus over south and east areas through the weekend. This will delay harvest. Local flooding can be expected. Western Midwest areas have extensive delays in field work due to heavy, flooding rain earlier this week.
BENEFICIAL SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN
Recent rain has favored filling soybeans and increased soil moisture for planting winter wheat.
STILL MILD IN NORTHERN PLAINS
The Northern Plains continue with mostly favorable conditions for finishing spring wheat harvest and beginning row-crop harvest activity.

HEAVY DELTA RAIN
Heavy rain occurred in the Delta Thursday, with additional rain indicated through the weekend. Flooding is likely, along with disruption to harvest. Crop loss is also a threat.
ADDITIONAL SHOWERS IN WEST TEXAS
West Texas crop areas have another round of showers and thundershowers for the end of the week. The rain will improve soil moisture, but may be unfavorable for open-boll cotton.
FAVORABLE NORTHERN PLAINS TREND
The Northern Plains has mostly favorable conditions for row-crop ripening and harvest.
SCATTERED SHOWERS FOR PRAIRIES
Eastern sectors of the Canadian Prairies will have rainfall in the next week. However, the driest areas of the southwest and central Prairies will take in very little precipitation.
SHOWERS FOR BLACK SEA REGION
Russia and Ukraine continue with a forecast for increasing shower and thundershower activity through the weekend, especially southeast Ukraine and south Russia.
VARIABLE INDIA MONSOON RAIN
The India monsoon remains active over north-central and northeast crop areas, but has weakened elsewhere.
