OMAHA (DTN) -- Mainly favorable conditions in the Midwest and brief dryness easing in Australia are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

FAVORABLE MIDWEST PATTERN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for generally favorable conditions for row crops in the Midwest. Eastern areas had moderate to locally heavy rainfall over the past weekend. Some northern areas may have a new round of flooding after very heavy rain in the past week.

LIMITED RAIN FOR SOUTHERN PLAINS

Southern Plains areas will be mainly dry through the next week, with only scattered light rain. Temperatures will be more seasonal; however, soils will trend drier ahead of winter wheat planting.

STILL DRY IN WEST TEXAS

West Texas cotton areas continue with seasonal very warm to hot and dry conditions through the next week.

MILDER IN NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, seasonal to below-normal temperatures are in store during the next week. This pattern will be less stressful to late-season row crops.

VARIABLE PRAIRIES RAIN

In the Canadian Prairies, the past weekend brought rain showers to Alberta, northern Saskatchewan and northern Manitoba, along with some occurrences of frost. However, crops are further advanced than average; thus, frost impact is likely minimal.

DRY IN RUSSIA

Late-season heat and dryness has set up over south and east Ukraine and south Russia. This combination is stressful to late-filling crops, and reduces available soil moisture for winter wheat to be planted this fall.

WEEKEND EASTERN AUSTRALIA SHOWERS

Eastern Australia, southern Queensland and northern New South Wales had rainfall totaling just over 1 inch (25 millimeters) during the past weekend. This rain brought only slight easing of drought stress. The region has very little follow-up moisture forecast this week.

FAVORABLE INDIA MONSOON RAIN

Central and north-central India continue to be under an active monsoon pattern. Rain the past 10 days has likely improved the outlook in key crop areas.
