DTN Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Variable Midwest conditions and international crop region dryness are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

MIXED MIDWEST TREND

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for mixed conditions yet again across the Midwest. Northern and eastern sectors have favorable conditions for filling corn and soybeans, with adequate soil moisture and no persistent heat. The southwestern sector will remain dry with very warm to hot conditions and further crop deterioration.

SOUTHERN PLAINS SHOWER CHANCE

In the Southern Plains, scattered showers and seasonal temperatures will offer some easing of crop stress due to heat and drought.

POSSIBLE WEST TEXAS SHOWERS

West Texas cotton areas will be hot and dry through Wednesday. Showers may occur Thursday, along with cooler conditions. Moisture and easing of temperatures would be very important for avoiding further crop loss.

NORTHERN PLAINS MOISTURE DECLINE

In the Northern Plains, above-normal temperatures and mostly dry conditions will deplete soil moisture, increasing stress to filling corn and soybeans.

HOT AND DRY IN PRAIRIES

Canadian Prairies weather will be mostly hot and dry during this week. This is a stressful pattern for wheat and canola, along with reducing hay supplies for livestock.

MORE EUROPE HEAT

Hot and dry conditions continue to bring deteriorating prospects for Europe crops, especially wheat and corn in France and Germany. Recent daytime highs have reached into the middle to upper 90s Fahrenheit. The hot and dry pattern remains through Tuesday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms and more moderate temperatures develop during midweek.

LATE RUSSIA RAIN

In the Black Sea region, recent rain and less hot weather has helped ease stress to late reproductive and early filling corn, but is unlikely to significantly improve prospects after the extremes of this summer.

CHINA CROP AREA SHOWERS

Most of the primary crop areas of China have the potential for scattered rainfall, along with seasonal temperatures, during the next week. This pattern is generally beneficial for crops.

DRIER INDIA TREND

India monsoon rains have stalled and dissipated recently. This lull in activity is leading to hotter conditions and soil moisture depletion in west-central India. Only limited shower activity is expected this week.

DAMAGING AUSTRALIA DROUGHT

Most of the Australia crop areas remain in the grip of historic drought. This damaging dryness is leading to projections of notably lower wheat production. The next week offers only light rainfall in far southeastern areas, but almost no rain in New South Wales.
