OMAHA (DTN) -- Mainly favorable conditions for the Midwest crop and hot weather in Europe are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.

FAVORABLE MIDWEST CONDITIONS

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for no significant hot weather to affect reproductive crops in the Midwest during the next seven days. Showers increase somewhat in the southwest growing areas during the weekend and especially through south-central and east areas early next week.

SOME SHOWERS FOR THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Central and Southern Plains, increasing showers and cooler weather during this week should help ease stress in corn and soybean crops in key growing areas of Nebraska and Kansas. Showers may also break the heat wave in southern growing areas early next week.

COOLER, DRIER TREND FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

The Northern Plains are still not expecting much showers for key growing areas of North Dakota or nearby locations during the next seven days. Some hotter weather may develop, but in eastern areas, the hot weather is relatively short-lived. Dryness may affect filling crops during this period.

LIMITED RAIN FOR CANADIAN PRAIRIES

Showers remain fairly limited for the Canadian Prairies during the next seven days. Temperatures vary somewhat: It will be cooler at this time but should turn warm to hot again later this weekend and early next week, followed by somewhat cooler temperatures again. Drier weather increases stress to filling crops, especially through southwest and central areas, and especially canola.

HEAT AFFECTING EUROPEAN CROPS

Hot, dry weather continued over England, France and Germany yesterday. Highs reached the middle to upper 90s Fahrenheit through central and north France, Belgium and west-central Germany with low 90s elsewhere in the west Europe region, about 15 to 25 degrees above normal. Spring and summer drought has already affected winter wheat in these locations. Spring grains, oilseeds and sugarbeets are now being hurt as well. A cold front passage this weekend will break the heat wave with a few thunderstorms developing along the front. The overall drier-than-normal weather pattern with above-normal temperatures should continue, however.

VARIABLE CONDITIONS IN NORTH CHINA

In northeastern China, showers during the next five to seven days will tend to favor northern areas, while central and south areas are somewhat hotter and drier. Key soybeans areas are in the north while central and south areas trend towards more corn than soybeans.

DRIER, WARMER PATTERN TO CONTINUE IN CENTRAL CHINA

In central China, heat continued yesterday, especially central and south areas. However, scattered thunderstorms were also reported, providing some relief from the hot weather. A generally below-normal rainfall pattern and above-normal temperature pattern will continue. However, at least for the next few days, scattered afternoon thundershowers will also occur in the region.

RAIN, THUNDERSTORMS IN INDIA

Rains are now mostly in the north India region, including the central interior locations. These areas should see episodes of scattered thunderstorms and rain, as well as lower temperatures. The Gujarat area is on the edge of the activity and is mainly dry, but occasionally rain develops in eastern areas. Southern India is drier at this time.
