OMAHA (DTN) -- Scattered rain chances in Argentina and favorable trends in Brazil are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

DRY ARGENTINA PATTERN RETURNS

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for the mainly dry pattern in Argentina to re-assert itself during this mid-March time frame. Weekend showers were widely scattered. The next rain chance does not appear until the end of this week. Reduced soybean harvest is already assumed in the trade.

BENEFICIAL BRAZIL PATTERN

Brazil continues with no significant concerns for maturing and harvesting of soybeans and first-crop corn. Heavy rain is possible over Rio Grande do Sul over the next five days.

STILL DRY IN SOUTHERN PLAINS

There are no significant rainfall chances for the southwest and central areas of the Southern Plains during the next week. Rain will be needed as crop development increases during the coming weeks to prevent significant stress to wheat and potential yield declines. Some precipitation during the period is possible in Nebraska and eastern Kansas.

MILDER IN NORTHERN PLAINS

Northern Plains areas will be dry the balance of the week. Temperatures will slowly moderate, but will remain below normal.

VARIABLE MIDWEST PRECIPITATION

Across the Midwest, light to moderate precipitation is indicated over the next five days. Occurrences in the eastern Midwest will be primarily snow. Temperatures will remain generally below normal, delaying the start of spring fieldwork.
