OMAHA (DTN) -- Chronic dryness in Argentina, and major rain-related harvest disruption in Brazil, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

CONTINUED ARGENTINA DROUGHT

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for Argentina's major corn and soybean areas to continue with a hot and dry pattern through the end of February. Crop losses are occurring with this heat and dryness. Temperatures are forecast to recede from stressful hot values; however, only limited benefit to crops will occur from this trend.

DISRUPTIVE BRAZIL RAIN

Central Brazil remains wet, with disruptions to soybean harvest. The rain is also hindering the planting of second-crop corn (safrinha). Favorable conditions for filling, maturing and early soybean harvest are noted in southern Brazil.

LIMITED SOUTHERN PLAINS WHEAT MOISTURE

Major Southern Plains wheat-producing areas will miss most of the rain forecast for the southeast and south-central areas during this week. Meanwhile, the weather will be cold, but probably not cold enough to cause significant damage to wheat.

HARSH NORTHERN PLAINS COLD

Northern Plains areas will be drier during this week with no significant transportation delays. However, stress due to very cold weather continues. Snow and ice will also lead to transport delays in Iowa and Minnesota.

EASTERN MIDWEST FLOODING

In the eastern Midwest and Delta, heavy rain and potential flooding could cause transportation problems during the rest of this week.

FAR WEST FREEZE

In the Far West, a hard freeze warning is in effect for central California. This is likely to affect produce and may also cause some damage to citrus.

FAVORABLE SOUTH AFRICA TREND

In South Africa, scattered thundershowers and seasonal warm weather are beneficial for filling corn and sugarcane.
