OMAHA (DTN) -- Beneficial moisture for Brazil, variable Argentina conditions, and precipitation for the soft red winter wheat belt in the eastern Midwest and Delta are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

VARIABLE CONDITIONS IN ARGENTINA

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for the current pattern to continue to feature periodic thundershowers for Santa Fe and northeast Buenos Aires, which favors developing crops in Argentina. However, there also appears to be some hot weather at times, sometimes very hot. This is not an ideal situation, but so long as the scattered thunderstorms break up the heat periodically it should not be too bad. Southwest growing areas, La Pampa and west Buenos Aires, continue to trend drier and periodically will be hotter.

FAVORABLE FOR NORTHERN BRAZIL

Northern Brazil has favorable conditions for developing soybeans with the normal summer rainy season continuing.

BENEFICIAL SOUTHERN BRAZIL RAINS

In southern Brazil, weekend rains in Rio Grande do Sul will ease any concerns that may have been building in the area during the past week or two. There are mostly favorable growing conditions in Parana and Mato Grosso do Sul.

RAINS IN MIDWEST/DELTA WINTER WHEAT AREA

In the eastern Midwest winter wheat area, additional heavy rain occurred in the Delta during Friday. Rain also reached into the southeast Midwest. This helps recharge soil moisture in the soft red winter wheat belt. The six-to-10-day outlook for the Midwest is for temperatures to average well below normal during this period, and precipitation to be near to mostly below normal.

VERY COLD FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, very cold conditions will increase stress to livestock through the north-central U.S. region during the next week or more. However, without significant precipitation in the area, it should not be overly a concern. No significant transport concerns are seen for hogs in and around Iowa.

COLD, DRY FOR SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, a turn to colder weather will ease the crop into dormancy during the short- and medium-range forecast period. The chance for meaningful precipitation in the driest areas of the western growing belt remains low during the 10-day forecast period.

VARIABLE CONDITIONS IN SOUTH AFRICA

Episodes of scattered thundershowers through southern and eastern areas will maintain favorable conditions for developing maize and sugarcane in these locations. A recent drier, hotter trend through northwest maize growing areas is somewhat a concern at this time.
