OMAHA (DTN) -- Useful rain in Argentina's forecast and additional heavy rain prospects in southern Brazil are the primary weather features for the commodity market's attention Thursday.

STILL-ACTIVE MIDWEST PATTERN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a still-active weather pattern across the Midwest. Moderate to heavy precipitation has already occurred in the region earlier this week. Another system this weekend is expected to bring moderate precipitation to much of the region, followed by another in the middle and end of next week.

MOISTURE FOR SOUTHERN PLAINS

Across the Southern Plains, a warming trend through the end of the week will melt snow and allow soil moisture infiltration. A system this weekend will bring moderate precipitation to the eastern half of the region. Yet another system in the middle of next week looks more promising for increasing precipitation through the region. This is a favorable period for winter wheat moisture.

LIMITED NORTHERN PLAINS MOISTURE

In the Northern Plains, a warming trend the next few days will reduce livestock stress. Precipitation will largely bypass the region with the next few systems moving through the country. Temperatures return to below normal levels in the middle of next week, with increasing stress to livestock.

HEAVY SOUTHERN BRAZIL RAIN

Across Brazil, heavy rain over southern crop areas continues in the seven-day forecast. The heavy rain may be unfavorable for crops with excess moisture and flooding along with harvest disruption. Central areas have moderate rain forecast with favorable moisture along with some harvest delays. Some light rain may also develop in northeastern areas and would be much needed.

USEFUL ARGENTINA RAIN

Argentina crop areas continue with increasing showers through the rest of the week. Central and southern areas have light to moderate totals with heavier rains over the north. Rain chances are high through the weekend as a front stalls across the region. Showers will be timely for much of the crop that is heading further into reproduction.
