OMAHA (DTN) -- Ongoing rainfall for central Brazil and a suggestion of timely rain for Argentina during the next seven days are the primary features for the commodity market's attention Wednesday.

WIDE MIDWEST PRECIPITATION DIFFERENTIAL

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for blizzard conditions in the western Midwest during Wednesday with a sharply colder trend, strong winds and light to moderate snow. This snowstorm will disrupt transportation and will stress livestock. Meanwhile, eastern Midwest areas have rain indicated through the Christmas holiday. The pattern through the end of the year is expected to be drier but cold with below-normal temperatures.

STRESSFUL SOUTHERN PLAINS WIND

In the Southern Plains, very windy conditions are in store during Wednesday. High winds are unfavorable for winter wheat due to the prospect of possible scouring out of soil around the crown of the wheat plants. The next chance for precipitation is indicated during the first half of next week and will be closely watched. Moisture is most likely as snow.

NORTHERN PLAINS VOLATILITY

A volatile pattern is in store for the Northern Plains. A snowstorm with blizzard conditions is in store Wednesday in eastern areas. Blizzard conditions will bring travel and safety hazards along with livestock stress. The balance of the 10-day period is drier with seasonally low temperatures.

BRAZIL RAIN VARIANCE

Brazil's rainfall forecast again features a large difference between amounts in the north and south. Northern and central areas have heavy rain indicated with favorable crop moisture. The southern sector, notably Rio Grande do Sul, has a dry pattern in store. The lack of rain over southern areas is concerning for possible drought impact.

RAIN CHANCE IN ARGENTINA

Argentina's crop areas have a more promising chance at rain during the next seven days compared with previous forecast iterations. Moderate to locally heavy amounts are indicated, focusing on northern and western crop areas including the state of Cordoba. This prospect will get close watching during the Christmas holiday weekend.
