OMAHA (DTN) -- Weekend rain and snow in the Southern Plains wheat areas and limited rain for South America crop regions are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

DRY MIDWEST FORECAST

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for mostly dry conditions in the Midwest during this week. Much of the region had moderate to heavy precipitation during the past weekend.

SOUTHERN PLAINS MOISTURE

In the Southern Plains, moderate to heavy snow in western areas during the weekend brought useful snow cover and moisture for winter wheat. Additional light precipitation is forecast for the region during the next seven days.

MILD ACROSS NORTHERN PLAINS

The Northern Plains had isolated snow showers over the past weekend. Temperatures fell near to below normal but will rise through the week, with little stress on livestock.

SHOWERS FOR SOUTHEAST

The Southeast had periods of showers during the past weekend. Some delays to the late cotton harvest are expected. A southern storm track could create periods of showers during the next 10 days.

MIXED BRAZIL RAIN PROSPECT

Brazil had widely scattered moderate to heavy showers during the past weekend. The rain brought limited benefit for reproductive corn and soybeans. Showers will focus over southern areas this week before migrating further north this weekend and into next week. Minimal rain is indicated for highest production areas of Mato Grosso.

VARIABLE ARGENTINA RAIN

Argentina saw scattered showers during the past weekend, mostly in the north and northeast. Periods of showers will continue across the northern areas this week. More widespread showers are possible during the coming weekend. Dryness has limited growth and development of corn and soybeans so far this season. With showers being limited again this week, more stress is expected. The system this weekend may bring some drought easing, but the region continues to run behind normal.
