Commodities Market Impact Weather
Uncertain Brazil Rain Prospect
OMAHA (DTN) -- A concerning rain forecast in Brazil and Argentina and mixed rain prospects for the Southern Plains in the U.S. are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Wednesday.
DRY LATE WEEK IN MIDWEST
The DTN Ag Weather forecast calls for most Midwest areas to have dry and breezy conditions through late week, offering favorable conditions for the final stage of harvest. Moderate rain is in store for the southern and eastern sectors of the region during the coming weekend.
MIXED SOUTHERN PLAINS PRECIPITATION
Southern Plains wheat areas have windy and dry conditions ahead through the next three days. The dry pattern may force wheat in sectors with limited precipitation to go into dormancy. Periods of showers are indicated during the 5- to 7-day time frame, with the focus indicated in the central and south-central areas.
MILD IN NORTHERN PLAINS
The Northern Plains will be dry during the rest of this week. Rain and snow showers are possible during the weekend with temperatures remaining mild.

DRY FOR SOUTHEAST HARVEST
Delta and Southeast crop areas will be dry through the next seven days. This drier trend will be favorable for cotton harvest.
ADDITIONAL BRAZIL RAIN CONCERN
Brazil crop areas continue with a sharp variability in rain forecasts during the next week. Moderate to heavy totals are expected in northern areas, but only light amounts are forecast for central and southern areas. Dry conditions delayed soybean planting by up to a month. Concern is high over a lack of soil moisture for soybean crop development.
POSSIBLE ARGENTINA SHOWERS
Argentina has light to moderate rain in the forecast through the next seven days. Dryness concern is high in the primary central crop areas. The concern is enhanced by the presence of a well-established La Nina temperature pattern in the Pacific Ocean.
RAIN AND SNOW FOR SOUTH RUSSIA
Black Sea region crop areas have short to very short soil moisture supplies. Snow is in the forecast for eastern Ukraine and South Russia during the balance of the week. However, wheat is likely going into dormancy ahead of the precipitation occurrence.
FAVORABLE AUSTRALIA FORECAST
Australia wheat areas have only light showers in store this week with very little disruption to wheat harvest. The Australia wheat crop is expected to be more than 80% larger than the drought-reduced crop of 2019-20. Crop size estimates continue to increase.
