Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- A cool to cold pattern on the way for the central U.S. and continued shower prospects in central Brazil are key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

COLDER MIDWEST OUTLOOK

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a sharp turn in Midwest temperatures from much above normal to much below normal. This colder pattern will curtail further warming of soils to support fieldwork and early planting. The colder trend is indicated to linger through the next two weeks. Precipitation will be variable, but prevalent enough to hinder soil drying.

VARIABLE SOUTHERN PLAINS PRECIPITATION

In the Southern Plains, precipitation will be variable in the next week. Eastern areas have light to moderate amounts in store, while western areas will have mainly light totals. Temperatures will be much cooler than the last few days but are not expected to reach critically cold levels.

COLDER IN NORTHERN PLAINS

Northern Plains temperatures are still on pace to fall to below normal later this week and for several days afterward, stressing livestock and putting a hold on any fieldwork. River basin flooding is also in store due to melting snowpack.

DELTA RAIN

The Delta will see renewed rain during the balance of the week, leading to further disruption in fieldwork and planting. Amounts will be moderate to heavy.

ADDITIONAL CENTRAL BRAZIL SHOWER CHANCE

In Brazil's crop areas, rainfall continues in the forecast for central and northern areas. Southern areas will be drier with additional crop stress. Crop estimates continue being pared back in Brazil.

DRY AND COOL IN ARGENTINA

Central Argentina continues with a dry and cool pattern in store this week. Mature areas will likely benefit while second-cropped soybeans still filling may incur stress due to dryness.

MINIMAL BLACK SEA PRECIPITATION

In the Black Sea region, very little rain is forecast through the next five days. The region will be monitored closely for stress to wheat after a dry month of March.
