In this Equipment Roundup, DTN/Progressive Farmer looks at the latest Association of Equipment Manufacturers report showing nearly no year-to-year improvement in tractor and combine sales during August; New Holland earning two 2025 Agritechnica Innovation Awards; and Unverferth Manufacturing Co. Inc. introducing a new lineup of its X-Treme front-folding, single-auger grain carts.

TRACTOR, COMBINE SALES STUCK IN A RUT

August 2025 sales of tractors and combines showed nearly no improvement from the same month a year ago.

In its latest monthly sales report, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers revealed that all-tractor sales fell 8.2% in August 2025, compared to August 2024. A closer look, however, shows tractor sales by category are slightly more mixed.

Sales of tractors of less than 40 horsepower were down 8.5% year over year in August. Sales of tractors 40 to 100 horsepower improved by 0.7% from August 2024 to August 2025.

From there, the news is less good. Sales of tractors of more than 100 horsepower were down 22.6% in August from a year ago. Four-wheel-drive sales were down 47.5% from a year ago in August.

Combine sales remain where they have been -- sharply down. August sales were down 34.6% compared to a year ago.

Year to date through August, all-tractor sales are down 9.6% compared to the first eight months of 2024. Combine sales were down 42.1% in August compared to August 2024.

NEW HOLLAND TAKES AGRITECHNICA AWARDS

New Holland has earned two 2025 Agritechnica Innovation Awards. Silver medals were given for New Holland's Corn Header Automation and for its ForageCam.

The awards recognize industry innovations and solutions. They will be officially awarded to New Holland in November at Agritechnica, the large, biennial agricultural trade fair in Hanover, Germany.

Here are technology details behind the awards:

-- Corn Header Automation. New Holland's Corn Header Automation uses advanced AI and automation to enhance corn harvesting. This technology automatically adjusts a variety of corn header settings as the combine harvester travels through the field, helping operators of all experience levels increase efficiency, reduce crop loss, minimize fuel use and save time.

-- ForageCam. New Holland's ForageCam uses a camera to instantly analyze crop flow and kernel fragments, delivering real-time kernel processing scores -- a measure used to assess kernel quality. Complete corn kernel processing is vital for silage quality.

UNVERFERTH UNVEILS NEW GRAIN CARTS

Unverferth Manufacturing Co. Inc. is introducing a new lineup of its X-Treme front-folding, single-auger grain carts for 2026. The new models -- X1500, X1300 and X1100 -- have hopper capacities of 1,500, 1,300 and 1,100 bushels.

The X-Series can be ordered with a traditional left-hand unload auger or with a right-hand unload option available to meet operator preferences.

The X-Series grain carts feature a front-folding, single-auger design with a U-joint connection that angles the upper auger outward, forward and upward for maximum side reach, operator visibility and increased clearance for taller trucks. The four-way downspout provides flexibility while unloading, and LED auger lights make nighttime operation easier.

All Unverferth single-auger grain carts feature a deep sump in the bottom of the hopper. The feature funnels grain down into the unloading auger for efficient and complete clean out.

Undercarriage options include single high-flotation wheels and tires, 36-inch-wide hydraulic-tensioned tracks or the Equalizer track system. All models can be equipped with a 275-gallon water delivery system with hydraulic pump and 100 feet of hose with a firehose-style nozzle.
