Massey Offers New Hay Control; Case IH Puma Wins Award; JohnDow Sells New Grounding Tool
In this Equipment Roundup, DTN/Progressive Farmer looks at Massey Ferguson offering a new hay quality-control technology package for 1800 series small square balers, Case IH Puma winning an AGROTECH award, and JohnDow selling a new static control tool for fueling operations.
MASSEY FERGUSON REVEALS SIMPLEBALE
AGCO Corp's Massey Ferguson brand has revealed SimplEbale. SimplEbale is an electronic aftermarket monitoring and control system that retrofits onto new and existing Massey Ferguson Hesston 1800 Series small square balers and simplifies the work required to make consistently high-quality hay for operators of all experience levels, Massey Ferguson said in a release.
SimplEbale will be released for limited commercial availability in 2024 and full commercial availability in 2025.
The SimplEbale solution's modular format allows farmers to select options that best suit their haying needs with minimal modifications to their machines. The base package consists of the user interface, electronic fan control, flake counter, bale length monitoring, and cab-based hydraulic pressure readout. These components provide real-time updates of the bale being produced. Optional upgrades include an automatic knotter lubrication pump, bale scale, LED lighting and hydraulic density control.
The SimplEbale electronics package does not require proprietary hardware or software to implement.

PUMA TAKES AWARD IN POLAND
Case IH walked away from the Polish AGROTECH 2023 show with an award for its new Puma 260 CVXDrive tractor.
The event's Targi Kielce Gold Medal went to the Puma 260 CVXDrive "for design and solutions which enhance work efficiency, for improved comfort and safety." The jury evaluated functional properties, effectiveness of use, product quality and aesthetics, as well as the impact on the natural environment and their novelty on the market.
This is the first Puma to incorporate Case IH's AFS Connect technology package, which provides field and fleet planning, analysis and remote data sharing. It also allows remote monitoring, support and troubleshooting.
The Puma 260's new cab is larger and quieter than on previous Pumas, using automotive-standard materials. The tractor's CVXDrive continuously variable transmission is capable of 31 miles per hour at 1,550 rpm for minimal fuel consumption.

JOHNDOW ADDS GROUNDING REEL
JohnDow Industries has introduced a new Static Grounding Reel fuel-handling product.
When working with fuel products, operators need a grounding wire to prevent static buildup and potentially a significant fire hazard. This reel has uses for refueling stations, fuel tanks, stationary and mobile fuel delivery trucks, maintenance/industrial, and aviation refueling -- any hazardous area where fuel might come into contact with a static charge.
This Static Grounding Reel includes 75 feet of cable, slow retraction, a ratchet-locking mechanism and auto-release to mitigate wire over-stretching. The grounding reel can be mounted to the ground, or to a wall or ceiling with the help of the mounting templates provided.
