EIA: US Ethanol Production Rose
US Ethanol Production, Demand, Supply Rose Last Week
OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) -- Overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1 million barrels per day (bpd) in the week ended May 10, up 35,000 bpd week-on-week and 13,000 bpd, or 1.3%, higher than in the same week last year, Energy Information Administration data show. Four-week average output at 977,000 bpd was 3,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
Midwest ethanol production averaged 954,000 bpd, up 40,000 bpd week-on-week and 22,000 bpd, or 2.3%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 925,000 bpd was 4,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
Ethanol blending activity in the U.S. averaged 920,000 bpd, up 15,000 bpd week-on-week and 11,000 bpd, or 1.2%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 909,000 bpd was 5,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
Blender inputs at the East Coast were up 5,000 bpd in the week while inputs in the Midwest were up 5,000 bpd, up 4,000 bpd on the Gulf Coast and up 1,000 bpd on the West Coast.
Domestic ethanol inventories ended the week at 24.489 million barrels (bbl), up 289,000 bbl week-on-week and 1.298 million bbl, or 5.3% higher than in the same week last year.
East Coast PADD 1 inventories ended the week at 7.908 million bbl, down 137,000 bbl week-on-week and 584,000 bbl, or 7.4%, higher than in the same week last year.
Midwest PADD 2 inventories ended the week at 9.597 million bbl, up 382,000 bbl week-on-week and 1.002 million bbl, or 10.4%, higher than in the same week last year.
Gulf Coast PADD 3 inventories ended the week at 4.264 million bbl, down 32,000 bbl week-on-week and 396,000 bbl, or 9.3%, lower than in the same week last year.
West Coast PADD 5 inventories ended the week at 2.359 million bbl, up 77,000 bbl week-on-week and 96,000 bbl, or 4.1%, higher than in the same week last year.
