EIA: US Ethanol Output, Stocks Down on Week; Demand Up
OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) -- Energy Information Administration data show overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.067 million barrels per day (bpd) through July 28, down 27,000 bpd week-on-week, while 24,000 bpd, or 2.2% higher than the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.066 million bpd was 40,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.
Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.005 million bpd, down 15,000 bpd week-on-week and 21,000 bpd, or 2.1% higher, than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.001 million bpd was 35,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.
Ethanol blending activity in the U.S. averaged 924,000 bpd, up 11,000 bpd week-on-week and 16,000 bpd, or 1.7% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 906,000 bpd was 12,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.
Blender inputs at the East Coast were up 4,000 bpd on the week while inputs in the Midwest were up 2,000 bpd, up 2,000 bpd on the Gulf Coast and up 3,000 bpd on the West Coast.
Domestic ethanol inventories ended the week at 22.86 million barrels (bbl), down 368,000 bbl week-on-week and 534,000 bbl, or 2.3% lower than in the same week last year.
East Coast PADD 1 inventories ended the week at 7.038 million bbl, down 164,000 bbl week-on-week and 586,000 bbl, or 8.3%, lower than in the same week last year.
Midwest PADD 2 inventories ended the week at 8.844 million bbl, down 6,000 bbl week-on-week and 59,000 bbl, or 0.7% higher, than in the same week last year.
Gulf Coast PADD 3 inventories ended the week at 4.065 million bbl, down 528,000 bbl week-on-week and 11,000 bbl, or 0.3% higher, than in the same week last year.
West Coast PADD 5 inventories ended the week at 2.565 million bbl, up 317,000 bbl week-on-week and 2,000 bbl, or 0.1%, lower than in the same week last year.
