EIA: Ethanol Stocks Increase 2.4%
NEW YORK (DTN) -- U.S. ethanol supplies rose nearly 500,000 barrels (bbl), or 2.4%, to a three-week high of 21.3 million bbl during the week-ended March 20 while up 36.2% compared to a year earlier, Energy Information Administration's latest data showed.
Most of the supplies were reported in PADD 1 East Coast, where weekly stockpiles increased 500,000 bbl to a six-week high of 7.7 million bbl. PADD 3 Gulf Coast also gained 100,000 bbl to 3.8 million while PADD 2 Midwest fell 100,000 bbl to 6.9 million bbl. Stocks were unchanged in the rest of the regions.

Plant production increased for the third straight week, edging up 6,000 barrels per day (bpd), or 0.6%, to 953,000 bpd while up 7.7% year-over-year.
Blender inputs, a proxy for ethanol demand, increased 3,000 bpd, or 0.3%, to 866,000 bpd last week, while up 1.0% year-over-year.
EIA also reported implied demand for motor gasoline decreased 641,000 bpd to 8.619 million bpd while down 4.3% year-over-year.
