Put Wheat to the Test

The National Wheat Yield Contest continues to show how much go there is in the golden crop. Last year's winners threw down the challenge with three farmers passing the 200-bushel-per-acre mark.

Enrollment for the 2020 contest is already underway with an early registration deadline of April 1 and a final deadline of May 15. The winter wheat entry deadline is Aug. 1, with an early registration cutoff of June 15. The contest also splits entries into dryland and irrigated.

Now in its sixth year, the National Wheat Foundation sponsored contest also considers quality, as only Grade 1 and Grade 2 wheat qualify.

Contest sponsors include AgriMaxx, Ardent Mills, BASF, Corteva Agriscience, CROPLAN by WinField United, Grain Craft, John Deere, Miller Milling, Syngenta and WestBred. Progressive Farmer is the official publication for the National Wheat Yield Contest.
