FAVORABLE MOISTURE IN SOUTHERN PLAINS
Mostly favorable soil moisture for the crop in the Southern Plains when it breaks dormancy in the spring due to heavy rains in early January. This will help mitigate the impact of dry weather this past fall and some very cold weather earlier in the winter. Additional beneficial rains have occurred through southern areas early this week with more possible this weekend.
MAINLY FAVORABLE BRAZIL TREND
Favorable conditions are expected for maturing and harvesting soybeans and planting and developing second-crop corn in central Brazil. However, rain during this past weekend and Monday may have slowed fieldwork somewhat. There remains favorable conditions for filling and maturing soybeans in southern Brazil.
VARIABLE ARGENTINA CONDITIONS
In Argentina, increasing showers and thundershowers at the end of this week and this weekend will maintain adequate to surplus soil moisture for developing crops and will mostly be favorable except in areas of very heavy rain and local flooding. Concerns continue over losses due to earlier flooding in some sections. Dryness and heat early in the summer through southern growing areas may also have affected crop prospects in these areas.
