Variable South America Trend
OMAHA (DTN) -- Mixed rainfall in Brazil, and a dry pattern in southern Argentina, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.
COLD WEEK FOR MIDWEST
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a surge of very cold air to move across the Midwest during this week. The cold air will delay transportation, and will increase the risk to winter wheat in terms of potential low-temperature stress.
DRY PATTERN CONTINUES IN SOUTHERN PLAINS
P[L1] D[0x0] M[300x250] OOP[F] ADUNIT[] T[]
Southern Plains' wheat areas remain in need of more precipitation in some western areas to support the wheat crop when it breaks dormancy in the spring. There is no significant precipitation expected during the next seven-to-10 days. Much colder weather developing this week bears watching.
COLD TO SPREAD ACROSS NORTHERN PLAINS
In the Northern Plains, extreme cold conditions return to the region during this week, increasing the risk to livestock somewhat. There are no significant transportation delays are expected during the next five days.
MIXED BRAZIL RAIN
Across Brazil, favorable conditions are in place for developing soybeans except in the far northeast where more rain is needed. Drier weather in central Brazil will favor the early harvest.
CENTRAL ARGENTINA RAIN
Across Argentina, recent or forecasted moderate to heavy rain in key corn and soybean areas will maintain adequate to surplus moisture for these crops. Less rainfall and higher temperatures may need to be watched as it concerns sunflower areas of the southwest and south-central areas.
