AGCO WORKING TO OFFSET COSTS OF TARIFFS
The subject of tariffs arose last week during a fireside chat featuring AGCO and J.P. Morgan, on the day marking J.P. Morgan's 53rd Annual Technology, Media & Communications Conference. Andrew Sunderman, vice president, PTx product creation & delivery, offered insight into how the manufacturer and technology provider is managing the impact of tariffs both on itself and on its farmer-customers.
AGCO's supply chain includes many U.S. suppliers, but also Canada, Mexico, Thailand, Taiwan and China.
"Tariffs have had an impact on our business as we operate around the world," Sunderman said. "We do a good bit of our own manufacturing. That's one of the things important to us, is not only do we develop and design the products, but we also take on different levels of manufacturing ... the ECUs (electronic control units) that we use in our products, the sensors and certainly some of the harnessing that go into our products."
AGCO also uses its distributed dealer and supplier networks to move products entirely outside the U.S.
"We have a broad distribution footprint, both for ourselves and for our dealers, and so we've been able to mitigate some of the impacts of tariff by working with our suppliers to distribute (products) to our different operations centers around the world and getting those products to the end point of sale, rather than routing through the U.S.," Sunderman said.
AGCO has adjusted pricing in response to the cost of tariffs.
"We'll continue to do so as needed," Sunderman said. "But one of our key goals is that we do look to minimize the risk to both the business and to our farmer customers, as we know that farmers are also experiencing the impact of tariffs."

PTX TRIMBLE INTRODUCES NEXT-GENERATION GUIDANCE CONTROLLER
PTx Trimble (formed as a joint venture by AGCO and Trimble) has released its newest GNSS receiver for precision autoguidance. The NAV-960 guidance controller improves positioning accuracy and availability as an upgrade to its predecessor, the NAV-900. GNSS stands for Global Navigation Satellite System.
The NAV-960 has centimeter-level accuracy when used in combination with Trimble CenterPoint RTX or RTK correction signals. It has complete compatibility with the current PTx Trimble steering systems and uses the same cables as the NAV-900 guidance controller.
The NAV-960 features an enhanced GNSS engine to track more satellites than ever before. Paired with enhanced inertial sensors, it provides up to 50% improved vehicle positioning and line-following performance compared to the NAV-900. The NAV-960 includes Trimble ProPoint technology with Trimble IonoGuard for maximum resistance to downtime caused by solar events and scintillation.
The NAV-960 is built with a solid aluminum base and withstands heat and cold extremes. It is manufactured to an IP66 rating, a standard that signifies a high level of protection against water and dust.
The NAV-960 is fully compatible with all GFX series displays, including the GFX-350, GFX-1060 and GFX-1260 models.
