Yamaha Launches Ag Tech Venture, Morton Buildings Offers New 3D Studio
Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. is launching Yamaha Agriculture, Inc., a new company focused on delivering autonomous equipment and AI-powered digital solutions to growers in the specialty crop market.
With the acquisition of Robotics Plus and The Yield, Yamaha Agriculture will provide robotic solutions for spraying, weeding and other field operations. It will leverage advanced data analytics and AI to enable precision farming and data-driven decision making for growers of wine grapes, apples and other specialty crops in North America, Australia and New Zealand.
"With the launch of this new company, we aim to leverage Yamaha's technological expertise to contribute to sustainable and profitable farming. Growers will be able to better address challenges around labor shortages, resource scarcity and impacts from climate change," said Jim Aota, chief strategy officer for Yamaha Motor, in a news release.
Robotics Plus brings to this new venture an autonomous hybrid vehicle capable of multiple activities, including spraying and weed control, helping address key labor challenges faced by growers. The Yield brings advanced data analytics and AI-powered models to deliver yield predictions and optimize on- and off-farm operations.

It takes planning and design to build a farm shop that works for your operation.
To help that process along, Morton Buildings is introducing its new 3D Studio. It is an online tool that enables users to design their own Morton building.
"With the 3D Studio, farmers can visualize their Morton post-frame building with modern layouts, dimensions and colors that fit their style and needs," said Dennis Lee, farm product line manager for Morton Buildings, in a news release. "It's intuitive and easy to use."
With 3D Studio, farmers can zoom in and move around the design as they plan a building for their business and machinery. They can save their building color choices and finished product with the "save" button, share with others and print the selections.
Lee said one unique feature of the 3D Studio is it allows farmers to determine the ideal dimensions for their buildings based on the specific size of the machinery, vehicles and equipment they plan to store inside.
The finished design can then be sent to the farmer's Morton team for a sales consultation to help ensure the building design meets their vision, needs and budget, and that it's designed and engineered to the proper specifications.
