Kawasaki Rolls Out Crew-sized RIDGES
Kawasaki Announces New Crew RIDGES With Space for Up to 6 Passengers
A year ago in Phoenix at its annual dealer meeting, Kawasaki introduced the brand-new RIDGE and RIDGE XR side-by-sides. RIDGE rolled onto the offroad stage, a new side-by-side machine -- quicker, more agile and comfortable than Kawasaki's iconic workhorse, the MULE -- but still boasting the MULE's reputation for work.
Today, Kawasaki is announcing new members to the RIDGE family, machines with crew cabs that do a bit more work and can carry up to twice the number of passengers to the far reaches of farm and ranch with 13 gallons of fuel on board. They are the RIDGE CREW (space for up to six passengers) and RIDGE XR CREW (4-5 passengers).
Both RIDGE CREW and the RIDGE XR CREW come standard with a full cab featuring HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning). The XR version has bucket seats and a roof with soundproofing insulation. Both have UV/IR-treated windshield glass to combat glare.
RIDGE CREWS both run on Kawasaki-built 999cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke in-line 4-cylinder engine. The Crew XR is rated at 116 horsepower, while the RIDGE CREW measures 92 hp.
The RIDGE XR CREW comes in two trim levels -- the RIDGE XR CREW HVAC ($33,099) and RIDGE XR CREW LIMITED HVAC ($38,099). The Limited version accommodates five passengers.
The Kawasaki RIDGE CREW is sold in two trims levels. The RIDGE CREW HVAC is priced at $30,999, while the RIDGE CREW HVAC CAMO is going for $31,799.
Here are features of Kawasaki's RIDGE CREW family:
-- The frame of the RIDGE XR CREW is extended by approximately 31.5-inches over the RIDGE XR model, reaching a total length of 156.7-inches (RIDGE XR CREW HVAC) to provide rear seating and generous interior space.
-- Both RIDGE CREWs have long-travel double wishbone suspension system both at the front and rear, allowing each wheel to navigate obstacles with minimal impact on the chassis.
-- RIDGE XR has 15.2-inches of ground clearance and 12.7-inches of front and rear wheel travel. The RIDGE CREW has 13.8-inches of ground clearance and the same, 12.7-inches of wheel travel.
-- XR CREW runs on 30-inch tires with 14-inch aluminum wheels. The RIDGE CREW has 27-inch wheels.
-- LED exterior lighting including accent lights are included with both models.
-- Both RIDGE XR and RIDGE mount continuously variable transmissions.
-- Both models have on-the-fly electrically selectable 4WD. The XR version has front-rear differential lock.
-- Both models have power steering and tilt steering wheel.
-- Both have tilting cargo beds with detachable tailgates and single-latch tailgates. They measure 34.6 x 49 x 12.8-inches with a load capacity of 1,000 lbs. The gas-assisted tilting cargo bed features tilting-release levers on both sides allowing for easy access to the engine.
-- The RIDGE XR CREW and RIDGE CREW tow 2,500 pounds with a standard 2-inch tow hitch.
-- Smartphone connectivity using the IOS-type smartphone app RIDEOLOGY THE APP POWERSPORTS, drivers can access vehicle information, log GPS routes, adjust instrument display settings, communicate, share profiles and trip logs with other users.
-- 7-inch full-color TFT LCD instrumentation. The screen displays various functions, including a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, gear indicator, driving mode, power mode, clock and CVT temperature. When linked using integrated smartphone connectivity, the display also shows incoming calls and messages.
-- With the RIDGE XR CREW LIMITED HVAC trim level comes an 8-inch Garmin Tread off-road navigation system.

The more powerful RIDGE XR will be offered in two different trim packages with the RIDGE XR HVAC ($29,999) and RIDGE XR Deluxe HVAC ($30,299).
