BOONE, Iowa (DTN) -- Despite the outlook for the farm economy, attendees of the 2024 Farm Progress Show took to the displays full of new machines, those loaded with new data collection and analysis technologies and automations making field work more precise and less labor intensive.

Here are some new machinery innovations that caught our attention.

CASE IH SINGLE-ROTER AF9, AF10 COMBINES

Single-rotor AF9 and AF10 combines complete the new AF series of combines offered by Case-IH. A third, the AF11, a Class 10+, high capacity combine, was launched earlier this year.

The AF9's 634 hp and the AF10's 775 hp provides power to maximize crop flow while increasing speeds.

Case IH's AF series offers a suite of precision technology, including dual Pro 1200 displays, Harvest Command combine automation and RowGuide Pro technologies.

"We've dubbed 2024 the 'Year of the Combine' thanks to the wide range of combines we offer at Case IH, which is now the largest combine lineup in the industry," said Leo Bose, harvesting segment lead at Case IH. "From Class 6 to Class 10+, farmers can find the perfect harvesting partner for their operation at Case IH."

In addition to the launch of the AF9 and AF10, Case IH is offering a new corn head series. The C500 series corn head offers independent drive lines for row unit and chopper drives and includes sizes from eight to 18 rows, chopping and non-chopping options, and narrow or standard-row configurations.

GLEANER T FROM AGCO

The Gleaner T from AGCO brings a shift-on-the-fly, two-speed transmission to the field, providing a field speed of up to about 8 mph, while offering up to 25 mph road speed.

It offers AutoTurn, a feature Gleaner said reduces operator fatigue from turning in the headlands and increases productivity by lining the machine up for each pass.

When an operator needs to stick his head under the hood, the Gleaner T has been designed with new shielding. A full size, vertical door on the left opens out, giving operators easy and full access to the combine, such as the rotor; a smaller access door in this door gives operators access to the DEF tank only. On the right, a pair of overhead doors open up that side of the combine for maintenance and repair.

NEW HOLLAND CR10 COMBINE

New Holland's new CR10 combine for 2025 joins the CR11 announced earlier this year.

At the heart of the CR10 is a 12.9-liter FPT Cursor 13 engine, delivering 635 horsepower, and a 455-bushel grain tank with an unload rate of 4.5 bushels per second.

The CR10's extended Twin Rotors are designed to optimize threshing and separation. The Dynamic Feed Roll system accelerates crop flow and evenly distributes it to the longitudinal threshing and separating rotors. The CR10 also features the TwinClean cleaning shoe that incorporates two sieve systems and automation sensors that continuously monitor and adjust for even material distribution.

The CR10 offers either a standard integrated chopper or a premium high hood-mounted fine-chop unit. They are available with the optional IntelliSpread automation feature, which uses radar to achieve full-width residue spreading.

The redesigned cab is equipped with twin IntelliView 12 touchscreen terminals. The main monitor on the right-hand console manages and monitors the combine's key controls, while the secondary monitor on the A-pillar is configured for mapping and guidance.

The new CR10 will be commercially available for the 2025 harvest season in North America. More information available at https://agriculture.newholland.com/….

MASSEY FERGUSON 9S TRACTOR

The Massey Ferguson MF 9S Series tractor from AGCO is powered by a duo 8.4-liter AGCO Power engine with Dyna-VT transmission. It includes Protect-U cab design, seen on previous Massey Ferguson S Series models.

"When you have a short window of time to reach maximum yield potential, working in a tractor that turns night into day means more productivity," said Brad Arnold, Vice President of Massey Ferguson North America.

FENDT 600 VARIO TRACTOR

AGCO's Fendt brand is launching the 600 Vario tractor in North American. Fendt is targeting small-to-medium farms, including row crops, loader work and forage enterprises with the 600 Vario.

"The 600 Vario offers everything farmers have come to know and love about Fendt tractors, including our efficient CVT transmission, comfortable FendtONE operator station and best-in-class technology suite for those looking for a nimble, multiuse machine," said David Soliday, senior marketing manager at Fendt.

The 600 Vario is available in four models -- 614 Vario, 616 Vario, 618 Vario and 620 Vario -- ranging from 149 to 209 rated-engine horsepower.

Fendt's 600 Vario features the all-new AGCO Power CORE50 4-cylinder, 5-liter engine. Combined with the Fendt iD low-speed concept, the 600 Vario achieves its maximum torque of 950 pound-feet at a low rpm of between 1,200 and 1,600.

The Fendt 600 features Optional VarioGrip automatic tire pressure control system, the FendtONE operator station and the new generation of Fendt's VarioDrive CVT to ensure stress-free power transmission on any surface.

DEERE Gator XUV 845, Gator XUV 875 UTILITY VEHICLES

Launched in July, Deere brought its new XUV 845 (gas) and XUV 875 (diesel) utility vehicles to the Farm Progress Show for its first public viewing.

"We worked with farmers across the U.S. and Canada to make this machine more versatile for all the work they do on the farm," said Eric Halfman, John Deere go-to-market manager for Gator utility vehicles.

The new models have a noticeably improved sound quality. Deere said its new XUVs are 31% quieter due to a new exhaust design.

The air intake has been modified. It has been raised 12 inches, drawing air from the best location to protect the engine. The XUVs have a new CVT air intake and exhaust to help pull cleaner air and protect the system from debris, water and mud.

The machines are precision ag ready. Both XUV 845 and XUV 875 HVAC models can be customized to include a factory-installed GreenStar Ready option, giving owners the ability to quickly add a StarFire receiver and universal display to the machine. All of the needed brackets and wiring to support the installation of the receiver and the display are included from the factory. The JDLink modem will also be included, enabling the Gator to be integrated into the John Deere Operations Center. Farmers will find this makes it easier to accomplish tasks around the farm such as boundary mapping.

Personal note on the AC. It did a very nice job beating back the heat of an August hot and humid Farm Progress Show. Apologies to everyone outside looking in, but it was great respite.

"The Gator XUV 845 and Gator XUV 875 make tasks such as boundary and field mapping, tile mapping easier to complete with a smaller, more nimble machine at a lower operating cost," Halfman said.

These Gators include a redesigned cargo box with 13% more space than previous models. The box includes:

-- 12 SAE power port.

-- Five divider slots on the side and three at the front of the box.

-- Redesigned tailgate with a flat work surface, ruler, v-groove for cutting pipe, anti-gravity pockets, bump stops and cup holders.

-- Fold flat tie-downs in the front-middle and four corners of the bed.

NEW HOLLAND TELEHANDLERS

New Holland's TH series features the TH7.42 PLUS, TH7.42 ELITE and TH9.35 PLUS.

Inside the 360-degree Vision Cab, is the new 7-inch InfoView color LCD display. Key operating information can be viewed such as ground speed, engine rpms and fuel levels. Adjacent to the display, a new LED-based Load Moment Indicator (LMI) with stability risk level alerts the operator if the machine reaches the maximum authorized load condition.

A new joystick is mounted to the front of the armrest and integrates control of third-function hydraulics, forward and reverse shuttling, transmission declutch and boom operation.

Operators can adjust the joystick and boom response to meet high and low sensitivity needs. In Loading Mode, priority is given to fast shuttling and rapid boom movement. Handling Mode prioritizes smooth shuttling and boom operation.

Another feature is Forklift Mode, which simplifies stacking objects like bales. When engaged, operators control automatic boom extension and retraction to achieve a vertical pattern, just like a forklift operates.
