Deere Reveals New Midsize Tractor Line
John Deere Rolls Out Midsize 6M Tractors Built to Do Wide Range of Work
CHELSEA, Ala. (DTN) -- John Deere is launching its model year 2025 6M tractor line this week. The 6M line, which includes 18 models, engine options ranging from 95 to 250 horsepower and five frame size options, is configurable to do a wide range of everyday work on farms and ranches, the company said.
"If farmers are looking for a tractor to help with multiple tasks around their farm, this is their tractor," said Dennis Ogle, marketing manager for the John Deere midsize tractor line. "The new 6M tractor is bigger, smarter, faster and more efficient and customizable, making it the go-to tractor for many farms, including dairy and beef operations."
Ogle described some of the chassis options. The sloped hood design and short, 94-inch wheelbase on the 6M 95 to 6M 125 enhance visibility and maneuverability in tight spaces. Midframe 6Ms (109-inch wheelbase) provide a slightly longer wheelbase and more weight for stability in roadside mowing and baling applications. The larger frame and higher horsepower 6Ms (110-inch up to 115-inch wheelbase) provide size and weight for row-crop and tillage applications.
Here are additional model year 2025 6M features:
-- Intelligent Power Management. IPM is standard on all 6Ms and delivers up to 20 additional horsepower in non-stationary PTO and transport applications.
-- Dual-tire configurations. Rear bar axles and dual-tire configurations are available for ease of wheel spacing or when the operator needs more flotation and traction.
-- Infinitely variable transmission. This is a transmission option available across all models that allows for stepless driving.
-- 50K transmission. Available across the full portfolio of 6M tractors, this feature helps transport speeds. 50k refers to the maximum speed of the transmission. It provides up to 50 kilometers per hour, or 31 miles per hour, ground speed. "This is critical for customers that have long distances between their operations, as it allows them to reduce their time on the road during transport," Ogle said.
-- Cab package options. New options and three cab customization packages are available to increase operator comfort and improve productivity.
-- Scalable precision ag technology. More precision ag is available with an updated corner post display and integrated connectivity.
So, how does Deere position the 6M against or with its 6R tractor line?
"The 6M is positioned as our mid-spec offering," Ogle said. "Customers can configure the 6Ms with basic, simple-to-use transmissions and features, or they can select higher-level features."
Deere views the 6R as its premium product in the midsize range.
"The 6R has a larger and more spacious cab with enhanced controls, delivering more comfort for the operators," Ogle said. The 6R comes standard with the G5 Command Center, allowing operators to manage machine settings and performance through a touchscreen display. In addition, the 6R offers the optional CommandPro joystick that provides reconfigurable controls at the operator's fingertips.
