LOUISVILLE, Ky. (DTN) -- Every February, more than 300,000 people walk through the doors of the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville to see the latest in ag machinery and related products during the National Farm Machinery Show. There's a lot to cover as 800-plus exhibitors are spread out in three wings totaling 1.2 million square feet.
Here's a sample of items that caught our attention.
KIOTI TRACTORS, LOADERS
KIOTI shared big news at the National Farm Machinery Show previewing its new HX Series tractor line-up. The HX9010 and HX1151 represent the South Korean company's largest offering to date, with base engine gross ranging from 90 to 115 hp. Unlike the PX Series that it replaces, the HX Series uses a KIOTI-engineered turbo-charged 3.8L diesel engine.
"In developing the HX Series, we wanted to improve the operator's experience with a wide and spacious cab while providing a tractor with the capacity to perform a wide variety of tasks around the farm," explains Greg Bibee, director of strategic sales and marketing. "Plus, we take a lot of pride in having a tractor in this horsepower range that's vertically integrated with a KIOTI engine."
Expected to be available later this year, KIOTI displayed a HX prototype at the show. Bibee points out the new tractor series will feature popular standard equipment as well as options. Highlights include:
-- 24x24 power shuttle with semi-powershift transmission and wet disc clutch;
-- Power takeoff ranging from 70 to 84 hp;
-- Pump gear hydraulic system equipped with a category II 3-pt hitch and hydrostatic steering;
-- Three remote hydraulic hookups with an optional fourth
-- 7,986 pounds of lift capacity;
-- Easy serviceability and access to key fluid checks, screens, etc.;
-- Unobstructed 360-degree views from the cab with instructor seat.
Other product launches from KIOTI include:
-- A revamped line of its popular CK10 and DK10 Series utility tractors. The CK20 and DK20 offer 25 to 40 hp and 45 to 55 hp, respectively. Bibee says the "refresh" includes a new hood design for improved visibility and front facia, full LED headlights and multiple updates to enhance operator comfort.
-- The SL750 and TL750 Compact Loader Series represents a "KIOTI DNA machine through and through, completely designed in-house and all vertically integrated," explains Jason Boerger, senior product line manager. Expected to be available summer 2023, the two models are powered by a 74 hp KIOTI engine. "Our goal is greater performance with a machine that is easy to use, very intuitive," he adds. Rated operating capacity is 2,689 pounds (SL750) and 2,300 pounds (TL750). Radiator swings out for easy engine access. Extra wide cab includes roll-up door instead of side opening, standard rear-view camera and display and hydraulic joystick that provides greater intuitive operation.

TITAN R-2 DEEP TREAD
For Titan International, bigger is better as it rolls out the first-ever R-2 deep-tread tire in the world's largest farm tire size -- the LSW1400/30R46. Scott Sloan, global ag/LSW product manager, said the latest addition to the radial Goodyear Custom Flo Grip line helps fill out the company's tire line and meets the growing demand for greater combine flotation and traction in regions like southern Minnesota, the Dakotas, the Southeast and other places that face wet conditions.
Sloan said the tire lug angle promotes "cleaning" as it operates in a wet field, "helping to pump out mud better". In drier conditions, the footprint improvement and 40% reduced inflation pressures help reduce soil compaction and soil rutting while improving traction.
Previously, the Goodyear OPTITRAC line introduced in 2016 included the R-1W tread. Sloan says growers wanted an LSW1400 option in an R-2. "We think it'll be a game changer for them." It will be available in summer 2023 with a full release in 2024.
