LOUISVILLE, Ky. (DTN) -- Kinze Manufacturing announced two new planters in the hours before the 2023 National Farm Machinery Show opened Wednesday morning.

The new 5000 series planters, bulk-fill only and available for 2024, also feature Kinze's new 5000 Series electric drive row unit. The sleek-styled cast row unit, Kinze said in a release, is redesigned for planting at any speed up to 12 miles per hour. The unit will be available on Kinze's new 5900 and 5700 planter models, both equipped with the Iowa manufacturer's Blue Vantage display and powered by Blue Drive electric drive.

The 5000 Series row unit is available with residue control, closing wheel, fertilizer and seed handling options. "Our new 5000 Series row unit is built to run longer and stronger, while providing increased protection for farmers' investment," Kinze president Susanne Veatch, said in a Kinze's release. "It elevates precision and performance to the next level, providing farmers with more planting control and efficiency."

The new planters, 5900 and 5700 versions, replace Kinze's current 4905 and 4705 models.

The 5900 is available in 24-row, 30-inch (120-bushel bulk fill seed capacity, liquid fertilizer capacity 750-gallon/500-gallon without/with openers); 16-row, 30-inch (80-bu. bulk fill seed, 500 gallons liquid fertilizer); and 12-row, 30-inch (80-bu. bulk fill, 400-gallon liquid fertilizer) configurations. The 5700 will be offered in 36-row, 20-inch (120-bu. bulk fill seed, 750-gallon liquid fertilizer), 24-row, 30-inch (120-bu. bulk fill, 750-gallon liquid fertilizer) and a 24-row, 20-inch narrow row planter (120-bu bulk fill seed, 500-gallon liquid fertilizer).

The 5700 24R20 planter features a new 40-foot, three-section frame configuration front-mounted, high-flotation tires, rear-facing transport camera, work lights, True Speed or True Rate electric meters, narrow-only Yetter residue option. The unit has 30-degrees of wing flex.

Kinze lists other features available with their new planters and row units:

-- A front-end design that allows the use of multiple residue options, including coulters, manual row cleaners and Yetter air-adjustable row cleaners.

-- Quick lockup-closing wheels for testing depth and seed placement.

-- True Depth hydraulic down force is standard with the True Speed electric meter and optional with the True Rate vacuum electric meter.

-- Disc openers with double-row bearings, shim-less pivot arms with greaseless fiber bushings.

-- Mini hopper, spoked gauge wheels, 12-inch vertical travel, gauge wheel mud scrapers (optional insecticide hopper, seed corn hopper).

-- New diaphragm pump--run dry for 10 minutes, pulls from remote auxiliary tanks, application rate 2 gallons to 25 gallons per acre while planting at speeds of 3-12 mph.
