OMAHA (DTN) -- Minimal occurrences of drier conditions in the Midwest, and a continued high threat of Northern Plains flooding, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

CONTINUED MIDWEST SHOWERS

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for light to moderate rain across the Midwest during the next week. Extensive spells of drier conditions are not indicated in the forecast. More-frequent rain episodes are featured in the eight- to 14-day time frame, with the potential of additional flooding. Extensive fieldwork delays continue for the region.

NOTABLE NORTHERN PLAINS FLOOD RISK

In the Northern Plains, a heavy snowpack in the eastern Dakotas will lead to major flooding on the Red River this spring. Rainfall is expected to be limited during the next seven to 10 days, allowing for a more orderly snow melt. However, there are indications that precipitation could increase during the 10- to 15-day period, which could cause significant flooding.

AMPLE SOUTHERN PLAINS MOISTURE

Southern Plains soil moisture remains adequate to surplus. This moisture is generally favorable for winter wheat; however, muddy feedlot conditions are stressful for livestock. Additional showers are in store during the coming weekend.

CONTINUED BRAZIL RAIN

Rain prospects remain high for most Brazil crop areas. The rain keeps soil moisture at beneficial levels for the safrinha corn crop. Rainfall has also caused some minor disruptions to soybean harvest.

BENIGN ARGENTINA TREND

Argentina crop areas continue with favorable conditions for corn, soybean and sunflower crops. Mild weather and light rain are featured over the next seven days.
