LINCOLN, Neb. (DTN) -- Harvest 2026 will be the last for three Minnesota grain facilities under the ownership of CHS Inc., as the company announced on Monday it is selling the elevators through a sealed-bid auction.

In June, the company announced that it would either close or sell grain elevators in Kasson, Ostrander and Wykoff. In addition, CHS already closed an elevator in Claremont, leaving the future in question for about 7.5 million bushels of grain storage following the current harvest.

CHS said on Monday in a news release that it would continue to take grain at the elevators in Kasson, Ostrander and Wykoff through harvest. The company also set a Nov. 19, 2026, deadline to file sealed bids to purchase the four elevators. Also, CHS announced it was selling two commercial properties in Dodge Center and Ostrander.

The largest of the four elevator facilities is in Kasson, where it has about 3.5 million bushels of combined grain storage capacity, according to CHS, a self-serve fueling station, office, scale and leased warehouses for rental income.

The elevator in Ostrander includes about 2.2 million bushels of grain storage as well as an office and scale. In Wykoff, the facility features about 1.4 million bushels of grain storage capacity, along with an office and scale.

The Claremont elevator includes about 584,000 bushels of grain storage and includes a sale/leaseback of the office and scale to CHS for two years with a two-year renewal option.

The commercial properties in Dodge Center and Ostrander include two storage buildings in Dodge Center and a shop/warehouse in Ostrander.

According to the news release, Maas Companies Inc. in Rochester, Minnesota, is conducting the auction.

CHS reported a second-quarter net loss of $147.1 million earlier this year. That loss represents a 95% increase in the $75.8 million net loss reported at the same time in 2025.

CHS also closed its grain elevator in Claremont and a large grain terminal at the Port of Duluth-Superior in 2025, according to media reports.

CHS said it would continue to operate in the region by offering agronomy and energy products and services to producers in the area.

CHS has made other facility investments, including a new grain storage and handling facility in Worthing, South Dakota, that was completed in July 2025.

In addition, the company planned to make additional retail capabilities operational in 2026 as grain-handling facilities were expanded in Kindred, North Dakota; Lansford, North Dakota; and Warren, Minnesota, CHS said in its 2025 annual report.

In addition, the company closed a grain elevator in Superior, Wisconsin, in 2025.

In April 2024, CHS announced plans to buy eight Cargill grain facilities in five states.

Those Cargill elevators are in Pipestone and Maynard, Minnesota; Morris and Seneca, Illinois; Holdrege, Nebraska; Cheyenne Wells and Byers, Colorado; and Parker, South Dakota. In all, the purchase was to add about 15.5 million bushels of grain storage capacity to CHS's business.
