OMAHA (DTN) -- Here are the Top 5 things the DTN Newsroom is tracking for the week of Sept. 7. Watch for coverage of these and other topics throughout the week on our subscription platforms as well as on www.DTNPF.com.

Note that all report release and webinar times are Central Daylight Savings Time unless otherwise noted.

1. September WASDE: We can already hear the drumroll for Friday's September World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report. Will the drier weather during grain and pod fill bring down USDA's estimates? How will world demand change the ending stocks picture? We'll all find out at 11 a.m. Watch our DTN platforms for the traditional flash articles moments after the report release, followed by updates and analysis from the DTN newsroom throughout the morning. We'll have our Rhett's Reaction webinar, featuring insight from DTN Lead Analyst Rhett Montgomery, at 12:30 p.m. That webinar, which includes a question-and-answer session with Montgomery, is free. You can sign up here: www.dtn.com/resources/events/webinars/

2. See us in Nebraska: You can visit with Montgomery, plus DTN Ag Meteorologist John Baranick, DTN Editor-in-Chief Greg Horstmeier and others at the DTN Building at Husker Harvest Days, near Grand Island, Nebraska. We'll have weather and markets outlooks at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and at 10 a.m. Thursday. We'll also be talking about some new farmer-focused products coming soon. Come early and snag a coffee and snacks, and take a spin at winning some DTN swag. Hope to see you there.

3. Fall is in the air: The clipper-like system that's moved into the Midwest brings cold air and a chance of isolated showers into the Midwest. Temperatures may fall below 40 degrees Fahrenheit across the north and frosts cannot be ruled out through Monday. If frosts do occur, it would be extremely early and put an end to the season well before normal. The Central and Southern Plains will see temperatures rise throughout the week, speeding up harvest. Water levels on the Mississippi River continue to drop and the lack of rainfall in the Ohio Valley especially will cause transportation issues this fall.

4. Brazil gets rain: A front across southern Brazil brought rainfall into the weekend, with showers as far north as Parana. Another front will move through southern areas with showers Sunday and Monday. Spring planting will begin in a couple of weeks, as long as soil moisture is favorable across the south, which seems to be the case. Central Brazil will wait until consistent wet season rains arrive at the end of September or more likely in October, even though some spotty rainfall may be possible later next week.

5. Reports due this week: Monday at 10 a.m. is weekly Grain Inspections. At 2 p.m. is Consumer Credit, followed by USDA NASS weekly Crop Progress at 3 p.m. Tuesday, no U.S. reports are scheduled. Statistics Canada will release stocks of principal field crops, around 7:30 a.m. Then on Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. is the Producer Price Index (PPI) and Core PPI. At 9 a.m. is Wholesale Inventories data, followed by the 9:30 a.m. release of EIA's Weekly Petroleum status including ethanol production and stocks. At 2 p.m. Broiler Hatchery numbers are out. Thursday, at 7:30 a.m. we'll see Grain Export Sales, Initial Jobless Claims, Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Core CPI reports. At 10:30 a.m. is Weekly Economic Index numbers with Monthly U.S. Federal Budget for August released at 1 p.m. followed by Slaughter Weekly report at 2 p.m. Friday at 9 a.m. is Consumer Sentiment, then at 11 a.m. is the September USDA WASDE along with Cotton Ginnings and USDA Crop Production reports. At 2 p.m. Turkey Hatchery data is out, followed by 2:30 p.m. release of the CFTC Commitment of Traders report.
