Periodic Updates on the Grains, Livestock Futures Markets
OMAHA (DTN) -- After the Sunday evening open, May corn is up 1 cent and May soybeans are up 3 cents. The calendar says spring, but snow is falling from eastern Montana to Michigan, along with beneficial precipitation in Nebraska and Iowa. More precipitation is expected to follow Monday and Tuesday, covering much of the central U.S. and gradually moving eastward. Central Brazil received beneficial rain over the weekend for the safrina crop and will get more this week, while the forecast is drier for southern Brazil and Argentina. May KC wheat is up 5 cents with Kansas temperatures expected to drop into the teens on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, a possible threat to winter wheat crops. May Minneapolis wheat is up 3 cents. May crude oil is up 25 cents and Dow Jones futures are down 24 points. The U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.019 and April gold is up $9.40.
