OMAHA (DTN) -- An unchanged mainly dry pattern in Brazil's winter corn areas and prospects for eastern Midwest and Delta rain are the primary weather features for the commodity market's attention Friday.

MIDWEST SHOWERS

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for periods of showers and thunderstorms across the Midwest during the next seven days. Rainfall will offer soil and crop moisture benefit but will lead to some fieldwork and planting disruption. Temperatures will rise through the next week and allow improved emergence and early crop development.

MIXED SOUTHERN PLAINS PRECIPITATION

In the Southern Plains, a mixed precipitation forecast is in effect. Seven-day precipitation amounts show moderate to heavy potential for eastern areas, but no more than light in the western areas. Extreme drought in the southwestern Plains shows no sign of easing.

LINGERING COLD IN NORTHERN PLAINS

Northern Plains temperatures below normal will continue through the next week. Drought continues as well. A system next week shows the potential for light to moderate precipitation, but prospects are uncertain.

HEAVY DELTA RAIN POTENTIAL

The Delta has widespread showers and above-normal temperatures expected this weekend and again next week. Heavy rain poses disruption for planting.

RAIN FOR SOUTHEAST

The southeastern U.S. will have moderate to heavy rain develop through the weekend. Rain will ease recent dryness but will also bring some delays to fieldwork and planting.

ONGOING PRAIRIES DROUGHT

Drought continues in the Canadian Prairies. A cold front will move through Friday with moderate snow showers in Alberta but less elsewhere. A cold pattern is also indicated to linger through the weekend until more moderate temperatures develop next week. Precipitation continues below normal.

CONTINUED DRY BRAZIL FORECAST

Primary Brazil central and southern crop areas again have only light rain showers in the seven-day forecast. The end of the rainy season appears to be starting for central Brazil. This is unfavorable for the second-crop corn which has largely been planted later than average.

VARIABLE ARGENTINA RAIN

Primary Argentina crop areas have heavy harvest-disrupting rain in the weekend forecast. The seven-day pattern indicates an easing of rainfall to lighter intensity which will allow some field drying for harvest progress.

COLD AND DRY IN EUROPE

Most crop areas of Europe continue with below-normal rain in the 10-day forecast. This drier trend is unfavorable for wheat and rapeseed crops. Mostly cold conditions add to crop stress.

SHOWERS IN BLACK SEA REGION

Showers continue in the forecast for Russia and Ukraine through the weekend, bringing favorable soil moisture for winter wheat in Russia and Ukraine.
