Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- More rain for the central United States and status quo in forecast details across South America are the primary weather features for the commodity market's attention Wednesday.

ACTIVE MIDWEST PATTERN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for an active pattern across the Midwest through the end of the week. A system continues to move through the region with moderate to heavy rainfall on Wednesday. A second system will move through the eastern half of the region on Thursday and another will gain strength as it crosses the region during the weekend. All three will help to ease local dryness and drought.

FAVORABLE SOUTHERN PLAINS CONDITIONS

In the Southern Plains, moderate to heavy rain fell during the last two days. A secondary system will continue with scattered showers over southern areas through Thursday and another this weekend will have more widespread light to moderate showers. Recent precipitation has eliminated or eased drought for much of the region. Winter wheat that has broken dormancy finds generally favorable conditions.

DRY FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, drought conditions have deepened in North Dakota. A storm system moving through this weekend will have little to no showers with it.

WET PERIOD FOR DELTA

The Delta had rainfall Tuesday. Rain continues Wednesday and Thursday, followed by a third storm system during the coming weekend. Soils will remain soggy with disruptions to planting.

DRYNESS BUILDING IN CENTRAL BRAZIL

Across Brazil, moderate to heavy showers are continuing over the south while it is drying out in the central and north. This will help immature corn and soybeans in the south, but second-crop (safrinha) corn will see unwelcome dryness with increasing crop moisture concern as we get closer to the start of the dry season. A couple of systems will bring showers to southern areas through the next week, continuing to ease concerns in this region.

ADDITIONAL ARGENTINA RAIN

Central Argentina has seen frequent periods of moderate to heavy rain during the past two weeks. Another system developing Wednesday will continue the trend into the weekend. The showers are highly beneficial for immature corn and soybeans. Some early harvest may have disruption due to the rainfall.

HEAVY EASTERN AUSTRALIA RAIN

Eastern Australia has seen heavy rain during the last week. The rain caused some local flooding and is unfavorable for maturing summer crops. However, the rain has also brought improvement to soil moisture ahead of seeding the next wheat crop.
