Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Prospects for beneficial precipitation across the central United States and central Argentina during the next week are the primary weather features for the commodity market's attention Wednesday.

MOISTURE ACROSS MIDWEST

The DTN ag weather forecast continues to indicate an active weather pattern to feature in the Midwest during the next seven days. A frontal boundary will be pushed progressively eastward by a few storm systems this week. Each storm system could bring moderate precipitation to the region, benefiting soil moisture. A system that will affect the Plains this weekend could bring moderate precipitation to the region next week.

SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN

In the Southern Plains, showers are in store during the next couple of days. A system this weekend will bring moderate to heavy rain and snow across the region, including for drought-affected western areas. Blizzard conditions may be the result over the west. The track of this feature will be important for precipitation prospects. Cold air will fill in behind the system for next week, but temperatures do not appear to be low enough to cause damage at this time.

HEAVY NORTHERN PLAINS SNOW CHANCE

Portions of the Northern Plains have heavy snow in the seven-day forecast. Chances are greatest during the five- to seven-day period. Snow could total several feet, which could be stressful to livestock. Soil moisture will have some recharge, however. Very little moisture is indicated for the northern half of the region, mainly in North Dakota.

MIXED DELTA TREND

The Delta has a mostly dry pattern in store through Thursday. Rain chances increase during the end of the week into the coming weekend. Moderate to heavy amounts are indicated.

CONTINUED CENTRAL BRAZIL RAIN

Central Brazil crop areas remain in line for moderate to heavy rain during the next seven days. Soybean harvest and planting of the second-crop (safrinha) corn are disrupted and delayed by this ongoing pattern. Meanwhile, dryness over the south will continue through the balance of the week, producing stress for remaining immature corn and soybeans and newly planted corn.

INCREASED ARGENTINA SHOWER CHANCE

Central Argentina crop areas have increased prospects for beneficial light to moderate rain during the next seven days. This chance will be closely watched for impact on filling corn and soybeans.
