Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Ongoing heavy central Brazil rain and widespread chances for significant central U.S. precipitation are the primary weather features for the commodity market's attention Tuesday.

PROMISING MIDWEST MOISTURE CHANCE

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for an active weather pattern to feature in the Midwest during the next seven days. A frontal boundary will be pushed progressively eastward by a few storm systems this week. Each storm system could bring moderate precipitation to the region, benefiting soil moisture. A system that will affect the Plains this weekend could bring moderate precipitation to the region next week.

RAIN FOR SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, a frontal boundary and a few pieces of energy will bring showers to the region this week. A follow-up system this weekend will bring moderate to heavy precipitation across the region, including for the areas in drought in the west. The track of this feature will be important for precipitation prospects.

WINTRY NORTHERN PLAINS FORECAST

A storm system will cross the Northern Plains with mixed precipitation and colder conditions Tuesday. Another disturbance will bring additional wintry precipitation Wednesday. This second piece could bring much-needed precipitation to South Dakota in the form of snow. Drier weather will take back control for the rest of the week, though there is potential for more moderate showers to occur late this weekend into early next week.

VARIABLE DELTA TREND

The Delta has a mostly dry pattern in store through midweek. Rain chances increase during the last half of the week into the coming weekend. Moderate to heavy amounts are indicated.

DAMAGING CENTRAL BRAZIL RAIN

Central Brazil crop areas remain waterlogged by frequent occurrences of heavy rain. This saturated pattern is disrupting soybean harvest and leading to quality loss along with acreage abandonment. The next seven days remain wet in the forecast. In addition, prospects for the second-crop corn (safrinha) are being downgraded due to extensive planting delays and some forced replanting due to heavy rain. Meanwhile, dryness over the south will continue this week producing stress for remaining immature corn and soybeans and newly planted corn.

ARGENTINA SHOWER CHANCE

Western portions of the primary Argentina crop belt have chances for light to moderate rain over the next seven days. Elsewhere, only light rain is forecast.
