OMAHA (DTN) -- Frequent showers in the next seven days for Brazil and Argentina and moderate to heavy snow across much of the central United States are the primary features for the commodity market's attention Monday.

MIDWEST RAIN AND SNOW

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for moderate to heavy snow across much o the Midwest during Monday through Tuesday. Heavy snow, cold air and strong winds will be hazardous for transportation and will be stressful to livestock. The snow also offers some soil moisture benefit. The weather system also will be a rain maker in the eastern Midwest with, again, some soil moisture benefit.

SOUTHERN PLAINS SNOW BENEFIT

Across the Southern Plains, two weather systems will bring periods of moderate to heavy snow during this week. The northern half of the region will see moisture benefit. However, driest sections of the southwest will have only limited chances at meaningful precipitation.

COLD PATTERN FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, light snow and cold air are featured in the forecast for this week. However, the pattern is still not extremely cold for this point in the winter season.

FAVORABLE BRAZIL PATTERN

The past weekend featured moderate to locally heavy rain in the central corridor of Brazil from Mato Grosso to Parana and Santa Catarina. The next 10 days feature additional moderate to heavy rain with favorable crop moisture for soybeans. Heaviest rain will be in southern crop areas. This will favor crop ripening and harvest in Mato Grosso.

MORE ARGENTINA SHOWERS

Argentina had only scattered rainfall during the past weekend. However, showers return to northern and central crop areas this week with continued improvement in crop prospects.
