Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Stressful heat and dryness in central Brazil and possible showers for Argentina are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

ACTIVE MIDWEST PATTERN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for an active pattern with periods of rain across the Midwest during the first half of the week. Precipitation will be light to moderate. Rain will be welcome for soil moisture benefit.

LIGHT SOUTHWESTERN PLAINS PRECIPITATION

Southwestern Plains wheat areas have light precipitation forecast this week. Drought issues are forecast to continue through the winter season. Significant precipitation is likely only in the eastern sector, which is a lower production sector of the region.

WARM FOR SEASON IN NORTHERN PLAINS

The Northern Plains regions has a mainly dry and mild pattern for the season during this week. Scattered light rain showers are possible during this early week.

DELTA AND SOUTHEAST RAIN

Delta and Southeast crop areas have periods of showers and thunderstorms in store during this week. Rain will cause some disruption to late cotton harvest.

HOT AND DRY IN BRAZIL

Central Brazil has a hot and dry forecast this week. Temperatures will exceed 100 Fahrenheit. This pattern is stressful to developing soybeans and corn. Precipitation during the past 60 days is from 50 to 80% below average. This concern is likely to remain high in trade thoughts as Brazil crops go further into the growth and development cycle.

SCATTERED ARGENTINA SHOWERS

Argentina has light to locally moderate rain in the forecast through the next seven days. Coverage is indicated over almost all central crop areas. This rain chance will be closely watched.

LIGHT AUSTRALIA SHOWERS

Australia wheat areas have only scattered light showers through the weekend. Very limited wheat harvest disruption is indicated. The 2020 harvest is much larger than drought-affected crops the past two seasons.
