Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Promising chances for useful rain in South America and mixed precipitation prospects in key international wheat areas are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

WIDE MIDWEST VARIANCE

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a sharp difference in conditions across the Midwest this early week. Western Midwest areas have windy and colder conditions along with moderate rainfall in the northern Midwest. Eastern Midwest areas will be very warm and windy during early week. Rain and a cooling pattern move into the eastern Midwest during the next three days. Ahead of these changes, corn and soybean harvest is nearly complete for the season.

MIXED SOUTHERN PLAINS PRECIPITATION

The week ahead features mainly dry conditions for the southwestern Plains. In addition, strong winds will bring further dryness in winter wheat fields. This sector of the Southern Plains region still needs moisture for wheat development ahead of dormancy. Eastern sectors of the region have favorable rainfall indicated. Wheat crop conditions have recently improved in Oklahoma.

STORMY IN NORTHERN PLAINS

Northern Plains areas will be colder and unsettled during this early week. Snowstorms in western areas and occurrences of rain and mixed precipitation in eastern areas are in store. Precipitation will cause some transportation delays. Harvest is mainly complete.

SOUTHEAST RAIN

Developing hurricane Eta will be a rainmaker for the Southeast during this week. Delta areas will be outside the primary rainfall area.

PROMISING BRAZIL RAIN CHANCE

Brazil crop areas have a promising rainfall forecast through the next week. Moderate to locally heavy amounts are forecast for northern and central areas with useful crop moisture. Rio Grande do Sul in the far south will be left out of the heavier rainfall pattern.

POSSIBLE ARGENTINA SHOWERS

Argentina crop areas have a higher chance for light to moderate rainfall during the coming week. This prospect will be watched closely for soil moisture improvement.

NEARLY DRY RUSSIA FORECAST

Russia wheat areas continue with a mainly dry forecast. Only scattered light showers are forecast through the coming week. Wheat areas continue with precipitation deficits of less than half the long-term average during the past three months. The Black Sea region is still likely to go into the dormant phase for winter wheat with soil moisture deficits.

WIDESPREAD AUSTRALIA SHOWERS

Showers are indicated for all Australia wheat areas through the next seven days. Rainfall will bring some disruption to wheat harvest while offering useful moisture for summer crops. The Australia wheat crop is expected to be the largest since the record crop of 2016.
