Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Mostly light rain in the South America forecast and ongoing moisture concerns in Black Sea region wheat areas are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

FAVORABLE DRY MIDWEST PATTERN

The DTN Ag Weather forecast calls for a warm and dry pattern across the Midwest during this first week of February. This pattern will allow corn harvest to finish in many operations along with benefiting fall fieldwork progress.

DRY WEEK IN SOUTHERN PLAINS

A dry week is in store for the Southern Plains. Western sectors of the region are still in need of moisture while eastern areas have improved soil moisture following rain and snow during the past week.

VERY WARM IN NORTHERN PLAINS

Northern Plains areas have dry and very warm conditions ahead through the week. The dry trend will be very useful for the final stage of harvest along with fall fieldwork.

DRY DELTA PATTERN

Delta and Southeast crop areas have dry and mild conditions ahead during this week. This combination will allow for improved harvest progress along with fieldwork.

WIDELY VARIABLE BRAZIL RAIN

Brazil crop areas have a widely variable rain pattern ahead in the next week. Northern crop areas are in line for moderate to heavy rain with favorable soil moisture for soybean planting and development. Central and southern areas have much lighter rain in store. Soil moisture concerns will increase in the central and southern Brazil crop areas.

LIGHT ARGENTINA RAIN

Argentina crop areas have only light rain ahead during this week. Soil moisture is in short supply over northern and western crop areas. This light precipitation will offer very little benefit.

MINIMAL RUSSIA RAIN

Russia wheat areas have light to locally moderate rain indicated during this week. Wheat areas continue with a very dry pattern over the past three months. The Black Sea region is still likely to go into the dormant phase for winter wheat with soil moisture deficits.

AUSTRALIA SHOWERS

Australia wheat areas have periods of light showers ahead this week. Rainfall will bring on some brief delays in wheat harvest progress.
