OMAHA (DTN) -- Beneficial rain forecasts for the Black Sea region and the U.S. Plains and additional rain prospects in the top soybean production areas of Brazil are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Wednesday.

IMPROVED MIDWEST HARVEST

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for warmer and drier conditions to spread across the western Midwest through the end of the week, favoring harvest progress. Eastern Midwest areas have a few days of showers followed by drier and warmer conditions in the seven-to-10-day time frame.

WIDESPREAD SOUTHERN PLAINS MOISTURE

Southern Plains areas have a combination of rain, snow and freezing precipitation going into late week. This precipitation is favorable for winter wheat. A drier pattern is forecast in the five-to-seven-day period which will be more favorable for livestock conditions.

MILDER PATTERN FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

Northern Plains areas have a warmer and drier pattern in the forecast through early November. This change will be favorable for harvest along with easing livestock stress.

DELTA HURRICANE RAIN

Delta and Southeast crop areas have moderate to locally heavy Hurricane Zeta rain indicated through the next week. This rain will delay cotton harvest and will be unfavorable for cotton quality. Some flooding is also likely with the oncoming heavy rain.

CONTINUED CENTRAL BRAZIL RAIN

Central Brazil crop areas again are forecast to receive moderate to heavy rain during the next week. This rain will offer additional improved soil moisture for soybean planting and development. Brazil soybean planting is about one-fourth complete and is two weeks later than average due to early season dryness. Southern Brazil has light showers in store.

LIGHT ARGENTINA RAIN

Central Argentina has light rain ahead during the coming week. Soil moisture has had favorable recharge from recent moderate to heavy rain. However, the drier trend will bear watching.

USEFUL RAIN FOR RUSSIA

Russia wheat areas have a promising round of moderate to heavy rain in the five-day forecast. This would be the best moisture for wheat areas in the past three months and would be useful for wheat ahead of the dormancy phase.

AUSTRALIA SHOWERS

Australia wheat areas have periods of rain through the next week in store. Heavy amounts are indicated in southeast crop areas. The rain will bring on some disruption to harvest. Harvest is in its final stages in Queensland and is underway in northern New South Wales. Yields are reportedly positive. Western Australia wheat harvest is also reportedly underway.

FAVORABLE SOUTH AFRICA PLANTING CONDITIONS

South Africa corn planting has favorable weather with periods of showers and mild temperatures. Corn planted acreage is reportedly expected to expand in the 2021 season, with a 5% increase in planted area predicted.
