Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Improving chances for the late-starting central Brazil rainy season and continued dry conditions in primary wheat areas are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.

DRY MIDWEST WEEKEND

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for dry conditions through the weekend of the week in the Midwest. This pattern favors row crop harvest. Light precipitation is in the seven-day forecast. Drought is increasing in the western Midwest.

MINIMAL SOUTHERN PLAINS PRECIPITATION

Southern Plains crop and pasture areas have dry and very warm conditions in the forecast over the next two weeks. Soil moisture for wheat and pastures is declining. Drought covers all but the lower production southeastern sector of the region.

BRIEF NORTHERN PLAINS SHOWERS

Northern Plains crop areas have scattered thunderstorms in store during the weekend. Rain from these storms will cause very little disruption to corn and soybean harvest. Drought is building in the region just over one year after record-wet conditions.

HEAVY DELTA HURRICANE RAIN

Major Hurricane Delta in the Gulf of Mexico is on track to bring heavy rain to the Delta during the next five days. The rain will cause flooding and extensive harvest disruption. Damage to cotton and soybeans is likely.

RAINS TO FORM IN CENTRAL BRAZIL

Central Brazil crop areas have increasing rain chances during the next seven days. Rainfall may offer enough activity to indicate the start of the rainy season and encourage active soybean planting. The rainy season is more than two weeks late in its arrival and has delayed the onset of wide-scale soybean planting.

MINIMAL ARGENTINA RAIN

Central Argentina continues with only light rain in store through the next week. Recent rainfall offered only marginal relief from dry conditions. This drier trend will be watched closely for continued effect on central crop areas. An established La Nina Pacific Ocean event has a high correlation to drought in central Argentina.

STILL DRY IN RUSSIA

Russia wheat areas have mainly continued dryness through the next week. A loss of winter wheat acreage is expected due to drought and unfavorable conditions for seeding and establishing winter wheat.

MIXED AUSTRALIA SHOWERS

Australia's southeastern wheat areas have light to moderate rain in the forecast through the next seven days. Other wheat areas will have only light rain ahead. Overall rain has been more favorable for the continent's wheat crop this year.
