December cotton is trading up 1.17 cents at a seven-month high of 68.65 cents a pound Friday morning as Hurricane Delta gets closer to making landfall in Louisiana later Friday, currently rated as a category 3 hurricane. According to USDA, 83% of cotton bolls have opened and only 17% of the crop was harvested as of Sunday, Oct. 4. Cotton in the Mississippi Delta will be vulnerable to damage from wind and heavy rains into the weekend.
