Commodities Market Impact Weather
Dry and Cool in Central US
OMAHA (DTN) -- A cooler trend, but with limited rainfall in the Midwest, and light rain for Southern Plains wheat areas ahead of planting are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.
LIGHT PRECIPITATION AND COOL IN MIDWEST
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for much cooler conditions in the Midwest over the next week. However, rainfall is indicated only for eastern portions of the region; very little is in store for the driest areas. Yield expectations are being lowered due to drought and heat.
MINIMAL SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN
Rainfall in the Southern Plains will focus on eastern sectors during the next week. Elsewhere, only light precipitation is expected. Soil moisture for winter wheat planting is in short supply over the western portion of the region.
DRIER NORTHERN PLAINS TREND
Northern Plains crop areas will be cool and dry during the coming week. This week is drier and cooler. Drier conditions favor spring wheat harvest. Row crops have incurred some stress from extreme heat in the past week.

VARIABLE DELTA RAIN
Moderate to heavy rain is in store for the Delta over the next three days. The rain will be closely monitored for possible impact on cotton and soybeans.
LIGHT SOUTHEAST SHOWERS
Southeast crop areas have periods of light rain in store through late week. The past two days have brought some heavy rain and flash flooding to portions of the region.
VARIABLE PRAIRIES PRECIPITATION
Light to locally moderate rain continues in the Canadian Prairies forecast through the next five days. This pattern will generally favor harvest. Temperatures have a below normal trend indicated.
ONGOING CENTRAL BRAZIL DRY PATTERN
Central Brazil crop areas continue with a dry pattern through the next week. This trend will be closely watched for possible change ahead of mid-September. The mid-September period is the official starting date for the beginning of soybean planting. Southern crop areas have reportedly incurred some freeze damage to wheat.
LIGHT SHOWERS FOR ARGENTINA
Argentina central crop areas have light rain indicated through the next five days. Wheat areas need additional moisture.
SCATTERED AUSTRALIA SHOWERS
Australia wheat areas continue with light rain in the forecast. Some areas of Western Australia and Victoria may see locally moderate totals. Overall wheat crop prospects are much larger than a year ago.
