OMAHA (DTN) -- Heavy rain targeting the southern Midwest and a hot and dry pattern in store for the Black Sea region are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

HEAVY SOUTHERN MIDWEST RAIN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for heavy rain in the southern Midwest Tuesday, with some flooding likely. Other sectors of the region will be drier. Dryness is notable in the eastern Midwest. The 10-day pattern continues with drier conditions and above-normal temperatures. Some eastern Midwest corn may be stressed going into the pollination phase.

HOT AND DRY IN SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, widely scattered showers and mainly hot weather will favor wheat harvest during the next several days. The heat will be stressful to row crops with continued heavy irrigation demand. High Plains cotton areas remain dry and hot with subpar crop condition.

NORTHERN PLAINS STORMS

In the Northern Plains, showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rain are in store during the next two days. Rain will offer some crop benefit along with flood potential. Recent heat and dryness has been stressful to spring wheat.

ADDITIONAL DELTA SHOWERS

Delta and Southeast crop areas will have periods of showers and thunderstorms through the week. These occurrences will maintain favorable crop prospects.

HEAVY RAIN FOR PRAIRIES

Moderate to heavy rain is in store for most of the Canadian Prairies during the next week. This will continue the trend of improving soil moisture.

RUSSIA HEAT AND DRYNESS

In the Black Sea region, the next 10 days feature hot and dry conditions for Russia and Ukraine. This pattern may be stressful to late-stage wheat.

VARIABLE EUROPE RAIN

In Europe, light to locally moderate rain is in store for Western Europe in the next week. Eastern Europe has moderate to heavy rainfall. Crop conditions look to be generally favorable.

DRY CENTRAL BRAZIL HARVEST PATTERN

Central Brazil crop areas continue with dry conditions forecast through the week. This drier trend is favorable for additional safrinha corn harvest progress.

LIGHT ARGENTINA RAIN

In Argentina, a system Tuesday will bring showers to eastern crop areas, but concern over soil moisture deficits for the interior central and southern growing areas continues, as does stress on developing winter wheat. Another couple of cold nights are forecast this week across the south as well.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA SHOWERS

Showers occurred over Western Australia wheat areas during the past weekend. Moisture for the wheat crop remains favorable, although Queensland in the northeast could use additional precipitation.
