Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Promising Midwest rain indications through the weekend and increased shower chances during the 7-day period for the Black Sea region are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.

WEEKEND RAIN FOR MIDWEST

The DTN Ag Weather forecast calls for widespread moderate to heavy rainfall through the weekend in the Midwest to keep up with moisture demand from developing crops. Scattered showers are likely to continue over western areas next week with some concern about returning dryness in the east.

VARIABLE SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN

In the Southern Plains, variable showers are in store Friday and Saturday. Some wheat areas will have harvest delays. Periods of isolated to scattered showers will continue next week, causing some brief harvest disruption. Row crop moisture is favorable in eastern sectors, but rain is much needed in western sectors, including the Texas High Plains cotton region.

FREQUENT NORTHERN PLAINS SHOWERS

Showers and thunderstorms crossed the Northern Plains Thursday, including the dry western sectors. Despite the showers, these areas are seeing stress to developing crops. Another storm brings several periods of scattered showers to the region next week.

FAVORABLE DELTA PATTERN

Delta and Southeast crop areas will have periods of shower and thunderstorm activity through the weekend. These occurrences will maintain favorable crop prospects.

RAINY OUTLOOK IN PRAIRIES

Rain is featured over most of the Canadian Prairies through the next 7 days. The moisture will be favorable for wheat and row crops.

BLACK SEA RAIN FORECAST

In the Black Sea region, a dry trend is expected through the weekend. Rain chances increase during the 7-day period, offering moisture prospects for filling wheat and developing row crops.

SHOWERS TO CROSS EUROPE

In Europe, a new storm system will spread showers over western areas Friday and Saturday. Warm to hot temperatures in western areas will continue through the weekend before cooling toward normal as rainfall develops.

DRY FOR CENTRAL BRAZIL HARVEST

Central Brazil crop areas have mainly dry conditions forecast through the end of the week. This drier trend will be favorable for additional safrinha corn harvest progress. Moderate to heavy rain is indicated for southern crop areas, benefiting winter wheat but disrupting harvest.

SOUTHERN ARGENTINA RAIN CHANCE

In Argentina, northern crop areas have the highest prospect for rainfall through the balance of the week. However, southern wheat areas also have a chance for light to locally moderate precipitation. Scattered frost occurred Thursday night into Friday morning. Additional frost or freeze chances are indicated through the balance of the weekend.

USEFUL AUSTRALIA MOISTURE

Australia wheat areas continue with mostly favorable moisture for developing wheat. Queensland is still in need of additional rain.
